Siver Medal for Australia in Womens 50 metre Backstroke

After a comeback victory for gold in the 100 backstroke, Iona Anderson ran out of room in the shorter distance.
She had a strong last 15 meters, but was too far behind to have another dramatic comeback. Anderson finished in a time of 27.45, .13 off of a second gold.

Along with the 9.85 comes the first Australian Male to ever Medal in a 100m at the Commonwealth Games, our last being the 1962 Bronze won in the 100 yard event.

We waited 64 years for this, and the wait made all 23,258 days between drinks well worth it.

Glasgow looks good on you, Eleanor

12 years after her first international medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, Eleanor Patterson has returned to Glasgow and claimed her second Commonwealth gold.
A clutch third attempt clearance at 1.96m sealed the win, edging out fellow Australian Nicola Olyslagers for the top spot.

Can we break our 1994 tally-

1994 Commonwealth Games - Victoria, Canada
  • 🥇 87 gold
  • 🥈 52 silver
  • 🥉 43 bronze
  • 182 total medals
Victoria, Canada should have been Victoria, Australia this year.

Thanks Dan Andrews.
