Lachie Kennedy has finished sixth in the men’s 200m final in a race won by South Africa’s Sinesipho Dambile.
The South African dominated, taking the win in 19.96 seconds, ahead of Nigeria’s Udodi Chudi Onwuzurike (20.09) and Jamaica’s Christopher Taylor (20.11).
Kennedy, running in lane one, got off to his trademark blistering start, but faded to finish sixth in 20.41.

Australia’s Torrie Lewis has finished sixth in the women’s 200m final in a race won by Adaejah Hodge of the British Virgin Islands.
Hodge took gold in 22.07 seconds, ahead of Trinidad and Tobago’s Shaniqua Bascombe (22.35) and Jamaica’s Alana Reid (22.56).
Lewis finished sixth in 22.88.

Australia’s pole vault queen, reigning Olympic gold medallist and former world champion Nina Kennedy, has been defeated.
Kennedy and New Zealand’s Eliza McCartney both topped out at 4.65 metres, with the Kiwi winning on countback.
Kennedy had one unsuccessful attempt at 4.65m, then logged three misses at 4.70m.
McCartney also registered three misses at 4.70m, but had passed 4.65m without a problem.
Kennedy picked up silver and New Zealand’s Imogen Ayris grabbed bronze.
An astonishing result.

When Adaejah Hodge crossed the line in 22.07 on Friday night, the usual choreography of a championship final didn't follow. No congratulatory hugs. No lap-of-honour camaraderie. The seven women behind her simply got on with their own business, and the gold medallist from the British Virgin Islands celebrated largely alone.
Nobody watching trackside needed it explained. Torrie Lewis certainly wasn't going to explain it, because she'd been told not to.

A personal best time of 42:13.40 sealed the title and she’s joined on the podium by an all-Aussie clean sweep.

A tough one to take for the Australian Diamonds.
After giving everything, they’ve fallen short, 45 - 46, against a determined Jamaica side and will now turn their attention to the bronze medal match against England on Sunday.
One more chance to finish with a medal in the Bronze Medal play-off.
