Australia’s star-studded athletics team has another gold medal after Mackenzie Little – the brilliant athlete who is a doctor at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney – won the women’s javelin.
Little won with a throw of 61.88m, ahead of New Zealand’s Tori Moorby (60.04m) and Kenya’s Irene Jepkemboi (57.85m).
Mackenzie Little turns Birmingham heartbreak into Glasgow glory, upgrading silver to gold and becoming a Commonwealth champion.

Leigh Hoffman claims sprint gold, Jessica Gallagher & Jacqui Mengler-Mohr and Claudia Marcks won silver, while Tayte Ryan, Georgia Baker, Kane Perris & Luke Zaccaria, and Thomas Cornish all finished on the podium with bronze.

When Adaejah Hodge crossed the line in 22.07 on Friday night, the usual choreography of a championship final didn't follow. No congratulatory hugs. No lap-of-honour camaraderie. The seven women behind her simply got on with their own business, and the gold medallist from the British Virgin Islands celebrated largely alone.
Nobody watching trackside needed it explained. Torrie Lewis certainly wasn't going to explain it, because she'd been told not to.

Brooke Buschkuehl snares Bronze in the women’s long jump.

Canada was initially disqualified. Then ... reinstated, to gain the Silver Medal.

With only five boxers in the women’s 75kg category, she received a bye straight into the semi-finals.
She then lost every round of her only bout and was eliminated.
Under Commonwealth Games boxing rules, both semi-final losers automatically receive bronze medals (there are no bronze-medal matches).
