we will need 11 wins this year to make the semis, hopefully we can get away to a flyer and win 4 or 5 early on we have a winnable draw early

Don't think 11 wins gets us there, I think you would be fairly lucky to scrape in with 12 wins most years but probably would be safer to say that 13 wins gets you there.

11 wins + 3 byes = 28 points which I think is extremely unlikely
12 wins + 3 byes = 30 points which may be possible but need a good for and against.
13 wins plus 3 byes = 32 points should get you there most years with a 17 team comp.

Yep, as long as you haven’t copped some thrashings. 32 points would not have got us into the 8 in 25 due to our differential.
We would have needed 14 wins.
How much you lose by counts and the 64 nil thrashing would have forced us to win more games than usual.
Can’t afford losses like that anymore.

Keep thinking that every year and just cannot understand how and why, even on those rare occasions when we are winning and winning well, we just start to coast or cruise along and let our opponents back into the game.

When and if we have the upper hand we need to be ruthless, keep the foot on our opponents throat and then just squeeze that little bit harder.

Until we can do that we won't gain any respect, we need to bring fear into the hearts of our opposition instead of them treating the round they play us like a bye round and count it as a certain 2 competition points.
