$50 Million reason Wests Tigers are prepared to quit Campbelltown.

I just don't think that's a ground issue. It's a player issue IMO.
Players win games, but given that CSS doesn’t have a good record of wins, fans struggle to go because they’re used to seeing their team lose at Campbelltown. If the club wants to make Campbelltown a success, we have to win there. The club can’t rely on Campbelltown by winning their games at LO and winning on the road it won’t put fans in seats.

I think I read something here about this maybe from @cochise
Not scrapped but both projects merged/combined, the grant for the Sport and Health Centre of Excellence at Leumeah. was $16.7 million.
So does that leave $33m for the corprate upgrades instead of the reported $50m?
No idea on that one. Maybe once it gets closer we’ll know.

You're gut feel? Move the current crop on? Get new players that win at Campbo? I jest of course, but something's in the water over there. Possibly the misery feels like the other team is playing with 14?

Jokes aside. I do hope for better performances there. Campbo is starting to feel a lot like AAMI park as a home ground.

You keep saying this but as GNR pointed out it sold out three times last year.
Anyway, it's not until '29 , who knows how we're shaping up by then. Hopefully we're kicking arse and its too small.

And all 3 of those were losses. I think fans are over losing at Campbelltown more than any of our losses. Club has got to win at Campbelltown to be a success moving forward. It has to start before the renovations commence.

Mate...if you're a serious bloke, you'll know people prefer to watch the game at Leichhardt...never heard anyone saying Campbo was an amazing venue...like never. You throw out some crowd numbers to slag Leichhardt and that's fine, but I'll use the old line trotted out about Campbo...it was the weather mate...to cold/wet/hot/whatever/don't win enough. The crowds at Campbo should be full considering we are much more competetive this year, but they are 11k average in the "growth area"...if growth means growing down then they are 100% right.

If we are playing the game of not having to bring anything to the table, then we can just disagree. If you love Campbelltown and you want that to have the lions share of the game, good for you. Personally, I don't and I don't think it's controversial to say so.

In any case, you miss my wider point. The split should be 6/6.
Firstly I never brought out crowd numbers to slag LO. I love the place, been going there for 50 years
(except for a little stint at Parra Stadium for the Sydney Tigers) The figures were brought out as you asserted that the majority of supporters wanted LO, when I asked how you knew this you said "Packed Leichardt...empty Cambpo". The crowd numbers this year reflected your argument positively, and last years crowd numbers not so much, which I clearly stated really meant nothing either way. What is it you want me to bring to the table? You used a visual cue to support your argument, I used crowd statistics to show you how feeble that was given last years crowd numbers and the venue it favoured. Who's to say next years won't swing that way again?
Anyway, like you said, we can just disagree.
I would have liked a 6/6 split too, but smarter people than both of us have deemed in the long term the best interest of WT is to play more games in the South West. If that's what will make this club the best that it can be, than that's fine by me, after all that's what we all want isn't it?

Sorry I haven’t read the thread but wondering how long the ground upgrades will take, when they will start, and where we will play while they are being built? Will they be upgraded/out of action at the same time?

It's me...hi

Just letting you know.

27 we play no games at LO.
28 we play no games at CSS.

You seem smart enough to fill in the gaps.

Smarter people...you mean smart like our politicians? Or other people smarter? I don't see a lot of smarts out there these days.

I'm not going to go further into our abysmal record and crowd statistics because you feel you've won your point with a couple of 17k crowd figures last season. Your analysis is hardly deep...but go ahead and actually do the figures over the long term.

As far as fans preferring one over the other, even Wests fans haven't fome into this thread and stuck up for Campbo being a great ground to call home...they can only talk about "growth area" and our "future". The Leichhardt faithful keep their mouth shut so as not to offend. This is the reality despite the empty platitudes to sensitive Wests fans.

This will be a big mistake to take 8 games to Campbelltown, but for the next 15 years, we'll have to listen to this growth area bullshit to justify it.

Lidcombe was mentioned in the context of money for upgrades. It isn't going to happen though, but I don't get this idea that "Campbelltown is our future". Nothing has changed in 25 years. Results wise and crowds wise.

It’s about winning at the stadium more than the fans attending itself. 100 games since the merge and we’ve only won 39 of them. It’s not gonna exactly be a good look for the club if we only win 1 or 2 games out of 7 or 8 or even worse no wins at all like we did this year. Our last 15 games there we’ve only won 2. If we don’t start winning there, there will be fans that won’t go simply because they know their team can’t win. That has to change.
Gees glenji95...I seem to keep on hearing an echo coming from your direction 😱.

I was waiting for you to show up. I've been purposely strong in my rhetoric to get you out from your rock. How you been?
I keep on hearing an echo echo echo coming from your direction as well 😀.
And I've purposely said nothing because I realised what you were trying to do many posts ago.
For a silly old bugger of 78, but now closer to 79, I'm doing extremely well thanks...and I hope you are also...but you won't be before long if you keep on stressing about playing so many games at Campbelltown.
And for the record...I have never been there, so I can't comment.

They did last year, they sold out the ground 3 times. It’s becoming tiresome the myth the ground can’t draw a crowd. You’d think it only draws 4 and 5k the way some carry on.
I know from friends in the area that they were giving out free tickets to anyone who wanted them for those games. I personally think Richo was trying to pump up the numbers to help get funding.

I know that's pretty anecdotal, but those three sell outs definitely aren't backed up by a long-term pattern.

Having said that, Richo is betting on Campbelltown. I think the club has a lot of work to do to make it work, but time will tell.
