$50 Million reason Wests Tigers are prepared to quit Campbelltown.

IMO the best long term solution would have been a new stadium at Liverpool and consign LO and CSS to local footy. Even if we shared with Dogs it would have been a better and more modern option.
Alas, not to be so we can keep bitching and moaning for another 15 years. That will just about see me out.

I wouldn't have gone against sharing a stadium at Liverpool Hb61 if it was to be the same or similar to Parramatta's new stadium.
In 15 years, I'd be 94, so I won't have to put up with the bitching and moaning that you may have to...I will have fallen of the perch well before that.

I don't know anything about the affect on junior districts, but even as someone who supported Balmain since the early 80's, I have always believed the best thing for the club would be to knock down Campbelltown, play solely at Leichhardt for a couple of years and then move permanently to a new ~30k stadium in Campbelltown.

Can only guess it was the eternal dichotomy that is the WT board that saw the COE built at Concord. 🙄

I envy the eels having their stadium and think it would've been in the club's best interests to simply funnel all funding into one very similar to it (roof would be nice...) at Campbelltown.

I personally would do all I could to ensure the new stadium had a roof: not sure many people think of this, but a statium with a roof means the team playing there > 10 times a year (as their home) is guaranteed at least that many games are played in perfect conditions.

Good for fans/attendance and game day revenue, but also big advantage for the team:

If you consider the tigers win a game played under a roof and win, e.g., 34-18, and another team wins equally well in Sydney the same day but is playing in torrential rain, they'd likely win by something like 16-10.

Could of course go the other way, but given many ladder positions come down to four and against I'd pick the roof any day.

In any case, I think the club needs to understand old-fashioned suburban grounds - for all their charm and atmosphere - are simply not the foundation for a club to move with the times and be successful.

While they're at it, rename the club something like West Sydney Tigers.

"Wests Tigers" is just two names people called two clubs that no longer exist in the NRL and it really doesn't make sense as a singular term.

Bloody schizophrenic club we support....
Hey TS...I'm all for the roof as it makes total sense for our fans and players. But one of us would have to win the $2 billion U.S.A. lottery that's currently on offer for that to happen, and I don't buy lottery tickets, so I'll have to leave it up to you to get one of the new stands labelled with your name.

But calling us "West Sydney Tigers" feels like rewriting the JV with a black marker over the Magpies half.

The name Wests Tigers wasn't just a mash-up, it was a handshake between two proud histories.
Balmain brought the Tiger, Wests brought the grit, the juniors, and Campbelltown.
If you rename the club and keep only the Tiger, then suddenly one side's legacy becomes invisible while the other stays front and centre.
And while ever I am alive and able to I will do all I can to not let that happen.

If we are building a future in Campbelltown, let's not erase the past that got us here.

The Magpies weren't just a feeder, they were a foundation.
And let's not forget which side of the JV has a 90% stake in WESTS Tigers.

You don't build a new stadium on heritage soil and then pretend the heritage doesn't matter.

Roof would admittedly be about half a $billion, so yes, extremely unrealistic. Be nice though!

I'm well aware of the origins of the JV. You don't need a mensa iq (or BOLD FONT) to get the name. I just don't think it's a great name.

It's akin to calling the club "Tigers Wests".

You don't like replacing 'Wests" with "West Sydney"? To me the latter is even more representative of "Western Suburbs" whilst also being more in line with a singular identity?

Isn't making Campbelltown the permanent home a decent compromise from a Balmain-leaning perspective?

And correct me if I'm wrong, but the tigers played at Leichhardt for a hell of a lot longer than wests did at Campbelltown.

Did wests forget Lidcombe Oval? Pretty sure they only moved to Campbelltown in the 80s.

The club as a JV has been around for 25 years, so has played there more years than Wests did.

He said she said at the end of the day who cares let's just get behind the club and start moving forward not the two steps forward seven backwards we do know.

To my knowledge, nothing has been said about making Campbelltown "the permanent home", not yet anyway.
And thanks for your respectful reply TS 👍.

Thats way too sensible!
Just copy and paste CommBank at Parra in Liverpool area and share with Dogs...!!30k capacity..every seat with a good view..no..a great view!
When investment in hospitals and schools is fully stretched,we simply cant afford to build a one team stadium, roof or no roof.
Which is why Panthers is such a joke!Politics. And Ayres still lost...
Interim solution...combo of Commbank ,LO and Cambo.
Forget the $$ on offer at homebush...its a white elephant, and not our responsibility to fix.Maybe Minns can put some residential towers around it to make it viable
$$ are gonna pour in with next broadcast deal

Despite being a Balmain supporter,I do recall Pratten Park ....
but the past doesnt matter in the least in this conversation
Its where we are today and how we move forward
An thats as one club and a clear home grounds strategy that is optimal for the majority of our supporters

Before West become West Tigers there was a joint exercise down West and Canterbury for a stadium to be built on Hillier oval area that encompassed the Whitlam Centre but it was knock back x 2 as been to expensive.

I’m a few years behind you BZN but hopefully you’re still going strong at 94.
Old Tigers never die, they just lose their stripes.
Commbank Stadium Liverpool would be perfect.

That's my view as well.

I think we've all seen the damaging effects trying to appease two factions within a single club has had for far too long.

WestS ffs
Its a state govt initiative...who were compromised by Ayres in Penrith promising the world, and labor needing to match that
Not sure it will happen for WTS as Balmain are green (in a very dark shade!)and south west is labor
No votes in a new stadium
Having said that...Leichardt has been thrown a few sheckles ..but primarily it hosts womens sport and soccer,U
Unrelated to WTs
