**THE COWBOYS are preparing to make Johnathan Thurston an offer that will make the Maroons halfback the richest player in the game.**
>
Sport Confidential has been told North Queensland are prepared to offer Thurston a staggering $700,000 a year, a deal which should stop the player rated as the best in the game from returning to the Bulldogs.
>
Cowboys CEO Peter Parr has been scouring North Queensland for third-party sponsors and has all but secured the deal that will be offered to Thurston during the off-season.
>
"I am pretty confident we'll come up with a deal that will be very hard to match," Parr said.

\
"We are not going to talk to the end of the season, but it will be an offer which will take some topping.
>
"We are confident he will stay. We have been given no indication that he will go anywhere if the package is right.

"We will make sure the package is right.
>
"I think we have done a better job on third parties than most and we will continue to look after him."
>
The Bulldogs have shown interest in bringing Thurston back to Belmore when Brett Kimmorley retires in 2011, but we hear the halfback is happy in Townsville - and he will be even happier when the Cowboys show him the money .
$700,000 a season… Sorry, can't justify that for ANY player imo.
