Dudes ..I'd settle for 10 minutes at a time at this point...baby steps..

Well we did almost score 4 tries in 10 mins. That just shows the wild difference in application that lives in us.

Was talking more about defence...

What defence?

If I hear this phrase one more time..

Tamou going on about it again in the presser as if it means something after using "not playing for the full 80" as an excuse for losing for the 10000th time.

Anyone else as sick of hearing it as I am?

There is no excuse for the crap they dished up in memory of Tommy last Sunday, so just shut up and have a good hard crack this week

Yeah, along with the same quote after every loss:

Madge, gritted teeth, "this is not who we are".

That’s a slap in the face to us tragics. Yes Madge, it really is.

And not only is it really who we are, it's your job to change that.

Intensely concerning we have a squad of "professional athletes", and that we still have to discuss whether the team is going to string a full 80 weekly. It's embarrassing and should be automatic for the boys to perform at elite level.

Most people work 40 hours plus a week and they can't put in a solid 80mins?

What do they do at training all week?

count cash

I don't think our players are thinking about an 80 minute performance. I would say that they are thinking "How long before the 80 minutes is up."

Total fluff piece and I’m sick of hearing about how things can change in a week. Complete bulls#it and stop treating us like fools. Put three games together where you play to win, make every moment count and not let in 30 points and I might change my mind.

Is Madge too hard on them and wear them out at training during the week and they've got nothing left in the tank come game day, who knows?

But was it last season or the season before that the players were complaining about it being really tough and asked if they could take it a bit easier during the next week and they had beers and pizza after the game and had a bit of an easier week before the next game.

If I recall correctly they got flogged even worse the next game.

If they keep up this crap they may very well have a Perf Romance when we get relocated as the title of the thread suggests.

I
Yeah think it was before the knights game.

My assumption is they are not playing for the coach or themselves or the club.

Drops you off that 5% and makes all the diff re rence

I actually have a different take on this and from this I actually wish the players wouldnt perform for 80mins.

Growing up I played 3 main sports and two of them I played very high levels (league was the one that wasnt).

In my best sport, I was close to "making it" but played in a high intensity position. It wasnt until an international player told me to NOT "play for the 80mins" that my game improved. The whole point was to intentionally select parts of the game that you were NOT REQUIRED to be switched on 100% and in those moments intentionally relax and distract yourself. The critical thing is to then know the triggers in the game to switch back on and when you switch back on, it has to be 100%.

I have regularly thought that this translates well to Rugba leeg and it extends your "mental stamina" through a game.

Well they could say 90% of our squad just plain sucks and we can't do it. Might be refreshing to hear?

I've never really played League (outside of school comps) but I can't think of a time in the game where you couldn't be switched on. Especially at NRL level, the game just seems way too fast and something happening on the other side of the field could sometimes be on you in a couple of seconds.

I suppose our lot have time to wind down behind the try line on many occassions while the other team has a shot at goal though :joy:

You would be surprised how many small moments there are. Obvious ones like behind the try line, scrums, etc and many of small moments. Trick is recognising them and using them fully.

I really smirked at that quote too, this is actually a typical WT moment.

But seriously Madge, what does WT mean to you? Don't give us crap about where you want us to be, I wanna hear more about what has been done for the brand that you want to create..

He is probably trying to trick the players into thinking they are professionals, in the hopes that they actually become that. If he told them what he really thought of them the players would pack a sad and do a Matto.

We just need 8 of those 10 minute periods and we will win 192-0....

I agree let them play football and we could be a better side than what we are showing

The Talau try we scored with a minute left was brilliant football. Hard direct purposeful running all the way up the field followed by a nice passing movement to the left. It all comes back to applying ourselves and working as one unit.
