Dudes ..I'd settle for 10 minutes at a time at this point...baby steps..

Well we did almost score 4 tries in 10 mins. That just shows the wild difference in application that lives in us.

We just need 8 of those 10 minute periods and we will win 192-0....

I agree let them play football and we could be a better side than what we are showing

The Talau try we scored with a minute left was brilliant football. Hard direct purposeful running all the way up the field followed by a nice passing movement to the left. It all comes back to applying ourselves and working as one unit.

Yep. Look at the Broncos tonight. Played with purpose and put on a great show.

But they will beat all the bottom 10 teams on a performance like that, run hard tackle to hurt and you are a chance

Yes and we will most likely put in a good showing and still lose also. Unless you walk away with the 2 points it’s all pointless really - literally!

The brisbane crowd were happy didnt hear any boo's

Was enjoying that game tonight and for a while was dreaming that the 'Riff (raff) could actually lose, then reality struck and the 'Riff won.

Then came the really hard part when I realised that the Donkeys were one of those teams that I had put down as a win, but unfortunately on that performance they are just another team that puts a score on us.

It's amazing what a bit of line speed can do to the opposition. Brisbane should have won that game but they made a lot of amateur errors, such as kicking on the first and not completing good ball sets.

Difference is they can work on combinations and improve by training if they can keep that effort and energy up.

If we played with that energy every week we make the top 8 easy

Maybe Madge should be screaming at the team before they run out, appears to have worked for Walters

Unfortunately it takes until half time for Madge to get all worked up and by then it's too late.

Yeah, along with the same quote after every loss:

Madge, gritted teeth, "this is not who we are".

I've been thinking about this phrase he repeats in each press conference. It identifies a potential problem in his coaching. If he is telling the playing group, 'this is not who we are' and they believe it, they never have to face the issues they have on the paddock.
He should be saying 'this is exactly who we are, and each of us knows what we need to do to change it' if we don't want to keep being 'also rans'.
I see it as him giving them excuses to continue underperforming.

Intensely concerning we have a squad of "professional athletes", and that we still have to discuss whether the team is going to string a full 80 weekly. It's embarrassing and should be automatic for the boys to perform at elite level.

Most people work 40 hours plus a week and they can't put in a solid 80mins?

What do they do at training all week?

Apparently they put in at training all week, so really it's only 80 mins that they are not at their best. :smirk:

Just going back to basics. Line speed, running straight and hard and tackling hard nearly got the job done for the Broncos. Dragons have done the same this season. Attitude and willing to work hard is what we desperately need

I don't take too much notice of press conferences because coaches rarely say what they truly think when teams lose and some like Des make no sense at all on purpose I'm sure. I do think that Maguire should drop we are better than this - cause on any given day may be they just aren't.

Just because they played well against Penrith last night doesn’t mean they will keep it going. How many times have you seen one of the bottom teams put in a good performance against one of the top teams only to revert back to their old habits and get smashed the following week - we do it regularly.

I actually have a different take on this and from this I actually wish the players wouldnt perform for 80mins.

Growing up I played 3 main sports and two of them I played very high levels (league was the one that wasnt).

In my best sport, I was close to "making it" but played in a high intensity position. It wasnt until an international player told me to NOT "play for the 80mins" that my game improved. The whole point was to intentionally select parts of the game that you were NOT REQUIRED to be switched on 100% and in those moments intentionally relax and distract yourself. The critical thing is to then know the triggers in the game to switch back on and when you switch back on, it has to be 100%.

I have regularly thought that this translates well to Rugba leeg and it extends your "mental stamina" through a game.

Yeah ..but you need to be mentally switched on for 80 minutes ....I think most people understand you can physically switch off for very small portions of the game

Any strategy, vision etc... are all nice on paper. In reality you are what you do, not what you write and say.

So Wests Tigers are a moderately successful business who are OK and improving at marketing and media. They suck at footy though, at least in FG, and I think you're right about how we should address it.

The most achievable thing for us is a deep freeze until the next batch coming through is ready. Hopefully we don't soil the bed again when it comes to retention time.
