8th spot is there for the taking.

Kidwell needs to go... Not Taylor

I don't disagree entirely.

However lets remember JT was very bullish coming into the job about what he could do with our defence.

Kidwell can carry the can and he deserves that given his job description, but Im pretty sure Taylor given his whole focus area was on defence would have had plenty of input.

Our structured defence hasn't improved greatly. Players are still inexcusably running out of the line (Mitch and Kevvie being the main offenders) and our overall ability to read attacks is sub-par.

On the bright side our scramble is getting better. No doubting the effort, it's more about decision making and defensive discipline.

The attack has come on leaps and bounds since last year. The intriduction of Sandercock has helped greatly.

This has been the big difference hasn't it. I think it comes down to Sandercock as well but Taylor deserves credit for supporting him.

Both have done well with this team….when I mentioned our defence earlier on,I didn't say it has won us games, more so our goaline d and scrambling has been much better and there is plenty of room for improvement yet, having said that the more they play the better they will perform on a regular basis...

I think that our defence is about the same as it has always been and the stats state that to be true. It's been obvious that our attack has been crud and that is why we were losing games despite having a decent squad.

The problem is that reality doesn't fit into Taylor's spiel and his supporters spin. Personally I think it's a massive step in the right direction and the coaching staff should be given credit for it. I'm even happy for Taylor to stay coaching us if we keep this up. Taylor has been good I think in getting a solid squad together. I think apart from the apparent ego plays with Robbie he selects a pretty good team. If we start playing attacking footy I think that we then have a chance to go well in this comp.

Same ol', Same ol'

We know what you think, you have been pushing it down our throats for months.

Everyone is spinning, attack, attack, attack, and defence is not important.

By the way thanks for the two negative reps - appreciate it.

Agreed. I suppose they are getting plenty of practice in scrambling hence the improvement! I initially thought they were rushing out for the chance of an intercept. Now I think they are trying an umbrella/up and in defence to push the attack back inside. Whatever it is at times it looks terrible and we pay the price. The intercepts are a bonus but hide the real deficiencies….

It must be tough knowing you are wrong. As for negative reps. I only do that on very rare special occasions. I try to only give positive rep.

No-one has said defence isn't important. It's just clear to anyone with half a brain that our problem has been a dud attack. We've been getting that right and it's funny that we start winning games.

Massive difference here. I've always said defence is important. The problem is that we've had a coach and some supporters stating it is all that matters. It's been obvious that defence wasn't the problem but our attack was the problem.

We are fixing that now. The coaching staff should be given some credit for the turnaround.

The people arguing defence is so important have no idea. I don't think we've been that bad this year but last year there were times when we didn't threaten with the ball at all. The opposition just got a free ride in defence. That makes it easier to attack.

We looked so much better because we off loaded the footy and came up with some planned attacking plays. It's about trying to win games rather than just hoping that we don't get beat by a lot.

I just found that quote and copied everything that I posted.

It's very interesting. I don't mean to be a dick but you are one of those posters with no idea who think that defence is the only thing that matters.

It's getting tough for you guys to stand by JT's and your spin now isn't it.

Firstly you haven't always said it as shown above. Don't try to spin your way out of it.

Secondly as shown to you previously teams with the best defence win comps. Sure they also have good attack but it is as important to have a good defence which you have failed to realise.

Thirdly, I have not stated that defence is the only thing that matters. I believe in the balance.

Carry on….

Steve, let's go back to last year when we played the Raiders at LO,we put 22 points on them with brilliant attack,we killed them in that opening stanza and people raved about how our attack was brilliant….unfortunately the Raiders won because we had no idea his to defend a lead,so we have always had great attacking flair, just no idea how to play to a defensive structure and this is what Taylor is trying to instill into this team of young hopefuls....balance is the key as proven, you need both to win games, sometimes the grinding defense is what can hold out a team attacking your line constantly and win the game after hard work getting the points to lead...

Guys - it's pretty clear that we now have a much better balance and we are winning games because we are attacking. Keep arguing if you want too but I think it's clear cut. I give the coaching staff credit for the step in the right direction.

Let's just hope it continues.

I would like to think I at least had half a brain - name calling is not on Steve, poor show.

You would know how tough it is being wrong - because you usually are either wrong or you sit on the fence.

60 to 6 against the Raiders - good one, yeah! defence is not important. Just bad luck we didn't score another 55 points.

Your spin isn't working. If you have good defence and good attack, you are a good chance of winning the game. That is what all these people on here have been saying, not what you like to think they are saying. Lol.

Rusell - you sound a little angry.

I'm not into spin. I think it's obvious that JT and his minions are the ones that are into spin. It's good to see that you've been caught out and we are starting to win some games now.

You should be happy. Winning games is what matters.

Not angry - frustrated would be the word.

I've been caught out???????????

Canberra 60 - Tigers 6 ("all we need to do is attack" you say).

I give up - your spin is too much for me.

And when we can't out attack a side its JT's fault and bad tactics :deadhorse:

If we try and out defend a side its JT's fault bad tactics

When the Storm keep sides under 18 points continually , whose fault is it then ??

Happy - get over your issue with playing boring losing footy. I expect the team to always try and defend. I also expect them to attack.

We've just had a really poor balance for a while from when JT became coach. Yourself and the rest of JT's minions have to accept we aren't winning many games if we only score 4-6 points per game.

It was dumb tactics. JT seems to realize that or the players are overruling him. Personally I don't care which option has been taken but it's great to watch the footy and see us win some games.
