New to the forum, as you probably can see. Just my view, and how I see our encounter on Saturday night.

Not too confident of a victory TBH. Our match against the Broncos on Friday night was atrocious to say the least. Bar Blake Ferguson and Shaun Fensom, no one performed. Orford had his moments (only really in the first half), but will definitely become more adjusted to our team over the coming weeks. Whether this is occurs before the Tigers game this week, I don't know… but it will be a better performance. Dugan will be back. I am getting the feeling that he may have been fit to play against the Broncos, but we would've been better off with a 100% Milne than an 80% Dugan. Milne was rubbish though.

Our record against your lot is awful in recent memory. We haven't beaten you since 2008, and haven't beaten the Tigers away since 2006\. However, they certainly have been close encounters and quite fiery affairs. Never really a hell of a lot to separate the two teams.

Blake Ferguson vs Lote Tuqiri is bound to be a great match-up. Ferguson is in amazing form, while Tuqiri is just class all round. Don't know whether or not he is in the same form as Blake, but one thing for certain, is that this battle will be worth the price for admission alone.

I can imagine we will be seeing a lot bombs ( ) towards Utai, as Vidot seems to be solid under the high ball when attacking, but when defending he is very suspect. Even towards Tuqiri we will see this, as Ferguson is also fantastic under the high ball.

Don't know whether Dugan will be at his best, coming back from an injury, but it was only a cork to the calf, so it shouldn't set him back too much.

The battle of the forwards will be an interesting one. Correct me if I'm wrong, but for your lot, Ellis and Fulton are out, while Gibbs is in doubt? For our pack, we will be full strength, but they had an awful night on Friday, a huge difference from what they dished out the week prior. I think Brett White adds a lot to our team, and he was sorely missed on Friday. He is back, and our notorious prop rotation will hopefully be at its best come Saturday.

Another very interesting battle will be Fensom vs Heighington. Fensom is one of the unsung heroes in our team, and his work isn't praised as much as it deserves. Again, Heighington is just all class.

Personally, I'd like to see Williams on the bench ahead of Waddell, or even someone like Sam Mataora or Danny Galea, but I doubt it.

Our team to run should be something along these lines:

1\. Josh Dugan
2\. Blake Ferguson
3\. Jarrod Croker
4\. Joel Thompson
5\. Daniel Vidot
6\. Josh McCrone
7\. Matt Orford
8\. Tom Learoyd-Lahrs
9\. Glen Buttriss
10\. David Shillington (c)
11\. Joe Picker
12\. Bronson Harrison (c)
13\. Shaun Fensom

14\. Travis Waddell/Sam Williams/Sam Mataora/Danny Galea/Josh Miller
15\. Trevor Thurling
16\. Dane Tilse
17\. Brett White

IMO, that squad is more than capable of beating anyone on our day, and that is why our loss to Brisbane, an ordinary Brisbane at that, shocked me and most Raiders fans.

Whatever team line-ups run out, it should be a very good game, but I do sense a Tigers win.

26-22 Tigers

As a tiger man I'm usually fairly confident of a win over the raiders but not so much this time around.

Sure the Raiders stumbled on friday but they have a very strong side, best pack in the comp and quite a bit of experience.

If Ellis and Gibbsy were playing I'd have higher hopes but without them it'll be a tough ask against your forwards.

We have two brilliant players who can turn the match and both of our centres are on fire. Having said that we need to win the forwards battle and on recent form this will be a stretch.

Should be a great game.

If dugan out we should bomb them over and over They were shocking under high ball . Big forwards can be moved about . reckon we will win comfortably 8 plus

Heighington…is class...even other fans see it..

thx for the summary Joey ...welcome m8.....should be a great game....as results have shown any team can beat any team on the day....that's nrl cIRCA 2011....

CANT WAIT FOR THIS ONE.....

If we beat the Raiders and they have Dugan back, then we should be premiership favourites because the Raiders are the best team in the comp on paper and we won't have 3 of our starting forwards.

And that will achieve what in week 3?

Good post Joey, very insightful and eloquent, if the Raiders forwards go back to doing what they do best (just carting itt upfield punching holes in the line) - which they didnt on Fri - then we will struggle I feel

Get bored with the raiders forum, didya? lol
Cheers for the input. Shillington & TLL are both gun and up there with the best in the game.
Dugan is the #1 prospect out there at the moment, tied with Lui.
& young Vidot is a pimp.
This will be one hell of a game, can't wait to watch.
Making some guacamole dip just for the occasion.

Yeah Joey big fan of Fensom as well

Without Gibbs and Ellis we will struggle…But after the upsets this week anything can happen.

Unlike many i thought we were pretty ordinary against the warriors but the warriors were worse, so if the raiders forwards come with a vengence and Dugan plays well i think we will lose in a close one :frowning: but i hope i'm wrong.

If Marshall brings his kicking boots and Lui fires and the young props stand up we may snatch it but im just too skeptical...

:sign:

Really enjoyed reading your post Joey wish more fans from other clubs did it.

I thought there was some doubt over Shillington…Didn't he leave the field with bone bruising to the knee? Either way the Raiders will test the Tigers with their extra size in the middle of the field. Tigers have a clear edge in the halves and centres though so it should be another tough game. If the Tigers can hold the Raiders pack, they should have too much class out wide.

should be a very good game, I'm split, I kinda like the Raiders side, but the Balmain part of me just hates them

Momentum is with Our Tigers,

We weren't convincing from all accounts on radio and News Print however we did win.

The Raiders are a good side and will probably be great in 2012\. The still have some gaps.

Orford will need a few games and Duggan and Shillow aren't in cleared to play for sure.

I will wait till Thurs / Friday before I give this one 2 much thought

I quite like this raiders side as well, alot of young blokes they bought thru NYC and stuff.

As cliche as it is, whoever takes the chances at the big momments will win. Benji has been doing this despite being well below his best. hope this continues and we sneak 2 points

neither team has found their form yet, im probably tipping the tigers on blind faith but can see it going either way. our forwards definitely need to step up from the previous weeks
