A Disgrace ?

I have made fun of other teams in the NRL in recent times because of their shoddy management, teams like ..Parramatta, Penrith , StGI and even Manly and Canterbury. But since Humphreys has taken over, the WST have seemed to be going downhill in all aspects, onfield and off field. And now this disaster regarding sacking the coach and employing the new coach.

So …is it managements fault ? ....the thing is I agree with the dismissal of Sheens but it was not done in a professional manner..

Whatever happens over the next 12 months I personally am still concerned in the management skills of Humpty and co.

- Most valuable jersey sponsorship in Sydney
- Hyundai, Meriton (Big, well recognised companies)
- Marquee player signatures
- Record membership
- Sold out games
- two extra games at traditional venues
- NYC and State Cup sides regularly making the grand final (inc 1 win)

How is this downhill in all aspects compared to what we endured before?
- multiple years of dodgy no-name (and in some cases bankrupt) sponsors
- traditional grounds starved of games
- "[This word has been automatically removed]"-gate, Hoppa, etc.
- salary cap not filled
- failure to make the finals

please explain

Yes, some good sponsors, thats about it

Lote & Blair…..Lote was good for a year

Membership should always increase

Sold out games has occured before

He really hasnt done too much good afaiks

no thanks to Humphreys since his arrival.

Since his arrival, we have finished in the top 4 2 out of the 3 years! Prior to his arrival, we achieved this only ONCE in 10 years.

This was entirely due to groundwork set up by Steve Noyce.

inept is a better adjective, disgrace implies they know how to manage. got no idea.

Marquee player signings Blair and Lote. Now ask yourself this question in relation to the points you used what were the Wests tigers before stephen noyce and what were they after re your points.Meriton as in humphreys got them or humphreys lost him. :   Uncle harry as walked.Considering he paid more for his haircuts than what he gave us I think that says something.Remember Kul lets make sure the facts vs emotion ratio doesnt get clouded in your reply.

Us fans will never know if it was the boards decision to punt Sheens or in fact that he had lost the players support & it was Benji & Farah or one of them fronting Humpty with a ultimatum after Ryan & Heighnington were let go to the Sharks. Either way, i believe it was the best thing to do but with every day that goes by waiting to announce the new coach, i feel it's putting him/WT behind every other team who have got everything in place for pre season training & season 2013\. Personally at first, i thought Humphrey's was a smart operator but my opinion has changed now & to me he appears to come across like a politician & i no longer trust him. At least we should know in the next week who the coach will be & we can put this season behind us & look forward to next season.

All the success, sponsors and membership income vanishes quickly when we blow $1m on sheens payout

Uncle Harry was here in 2000 too…..he comes and goes as he pleases, not due to whos boss, it seems more like how were travelling at the time

He does but he was also at Balmain in the mid to late 1990s and they were hardly world beating teams.

I remember hearing back in the day, that he use to give the players $1000 each if they played well & won or even if they played well but were beaten by a better side.Nothing to back it up & it might of just been an unsubstantiated rumour going around. Was tough times back then but it didn't deter my passion for the team as long as they had a dig.

I agree I think Humphries has done a great job.

Humphrey's has done well in some areas but has set us backwards in others

In the areas that Kul mentioned yes we have improved , but what worries me is how we are being percieved to be treating players especially in the cases of Rhino and Ryan and now possibly Moltzen

I would much prefer us pissing other teams and players because of our dog eat dog attitude on the field , not because of our sneaky management off the field

Before someone shoots me down and says that all clubs do what happened to the players mentioned why doesn't it ever reach the press in the others situations . Because it is better handled upper management , thats why

All this and a 1 million dollar debt re sheens re-signing and then 2 million dollar cash advance request from nrl.Balmain more broke than a bombay begger.Yeah Humphreys has done a great job.

I like Humpty, but I doubt he is in charge at the moment… The manner in which Sheens was stood down = 100% Emotional!

No CEO has the authority to write cheques for $1M and it appears to me everything which is happening at present has Board written all over it...

I doubt Humpty will be here come Round 1 2013, and I won't be surprised to see many more changes off the field!

Meanwhile some big-name board members (not going to name names, but she doesn't pick up her dog's feces when she takes it for walks around Birchgrove) continue - year after year - to be absent at meetings for which they were elected board member for. Why should Humphrey, a man who works hard in his role, have to take the fall when lazy showponies from both sides of the JV just whinge?

It's not Humphreys who needs to be replaced, it's the board(s) that needs a injection of fresh, better blood
