OFFICIAL Jack Bird #299

I do enjoy it when rags pretend this is 'news' to fulfill their article counter for the week.

Tigers have been trying to offload him for the better part of 6months+. It was reported numerous times he was being shopped around and on the outer. Tigers have tried a number of times to dump him and his $400k salary. Problem is nobody wants him.

Could be also Winston that you can open the birdcage door, but the bird is too dumb/scared to fly out to a new life.

Doesn't surprise, it looks like whatever reason he was on the nose for last season hasn't been resolved over the off season.

Hope we are looking at an upgrade to bring in, might be part of the reason to move him on.
There does not appear to be anyone of proven quality left to recruit, someone could pop up, but unlikely.
As you say it’s quite obvious Bird is on the outter and based on that probably wouldn’t be in NRL contention even if he refuses to leave.
This leaves us very short on NRL experienced depth, particularly in our forwards.
It likely means we are again putting a lot of faith in our younger emerging players to step up and either demand regular NRL game time or be capable back ups when required.
It can be a good thing that our younger emerging players know there are not too many blockages in their NRL path, but it could become very bad if our younger emerging players do not prove they are up to NRL standard very quickly.

There was a bit of a sniff that Blore wanted to come back to Sydney for personal reasons I would take him, bit mechanical but could do a job.

But you know the Storm, stingy pricks always want something in return, even less chance of that happening now with no return in sight for Katoa.

Maybe the BIRD will just stay in the cage until all the food (contract money) runs out.
And you can’t really blame him for that.
Suppose it depends if he's comfortable with life after football, might have something lined up.
But if there's still fire in the belly, he could extend his career in the old dart by 2/3 seasons on handy money.

I’m not going to be as flippant to say I forget he still even at the club. However, he has not been on my radar at all when thinking what our best 17 will be.
