A few players potentially on the outer at their clubs.

@jirskyr

Agree on Edwards

Almost there - gets you all enthusiastic and more often than not the bubble bursts.

Wouldn't want him at the Tigers myself.

Scott and Aitken are better than our current centres.

Would allow us to put Jennings on one wing and look at **Marsters as a back rower** or utility. MCK or McQueen could then be shown the exit.

The best recruitment is to identify talent and development. The state cups are littered with players in their mid to late twenties who were destined to be the next big things.

I would be keeping an eye on Sailor and Marsters from st George, but we are somewhat hampered by long term big money contracts to players that it is probably best to move on.

See Mbye, Packer, Reynolds, Matulino, McQueen

Marsters is too lazy to play in the forwards. I think he has shown that this year, there have been plenty of games where he has sat out wide and not looked for the ball. If he played every game the way he did against the Titans then yeah for sure, but I don't think he's got the drive to play backrow consistently.

Canterbury coach Dean Pay has swung the axe and dropped three players as he desperately tries to turn the club’s on-field form around.

Foxsports.com.au understands halfback Lachlan Lewis, centre Kerrod Holland, and backrower Rhyse Martin have all been dumped for Saturday’s Round 9 clash with Newcastle.

Holland has travelled with the team to Brisbane but will take no part in Magic Round.

In a huge blow to the team, Corey Harawira-Naera was set to replace Holland at centre but he has withdrawn from the game due to a family illness.

It means Kieran Foran will make his return from injury to partner Jack Cogger in the halves, Marcelo Montoya will be added to the backline, and Chris Smith also gets promoted. Ofahiki Ogden is also expected to be called on, meaning the Bulldogs will use all four of their reserve players.

Canterbury sit bottom of the NRL ladder with two wins from six games and they’ve conceded the third most points in the competition.

Foxsports.com.au understands the axings are a result of that poor defence, and Pay has sounded a warning to the playing group to shape up.

It was earlier reported Lewis had remained in Sydney due to the impending birth of his first child, but the baby isn’t due until next week and he was told by Pay he wasn’t in the team.

It’s the second time this season Pay has swung the axe and made mass changes. He did it after two big losses to start the year.

Martin is a realistic target if you're talking about players being out of favour. Unlike fantasy signings like Isaako, Martin could be worth talking about considering his contract is up this year. He has to have attitude problems, because there's no way he's being dropped on form.

It's an interesting position for fans though, isn't it?

Big clamour to drop more current Tigers players not performing. Many people also think Rhyse Martin is a reasonable footballer and a good goal kicker.

But Martin has been dropped to reserves in a team that has half as many wins as we do. That's not picking up a talented player in an under-performing roster, that's picking up a guy who is being personally identified for his lack of output in the under-performing roster.

So some fans would be in support of signing a reserve grader who was dropped from the comp's current worst first grade side, to enable dropping of our own first graders.

The article says the Bulldogs players were dropped for defensive issues. There were far worse defenders in that game, he only missed 4 tackles. Kennel cant work out why he was dropped as he has been one of their better players. Surprised he only missed 4 tackles with Lewis next to him.

I think he is on his way out and likely before June 30, I have no info just how it looks.

I find this a common problem. Our fans obviously watch our team very closely and pick up on small ongoing problems that they would miss in other teams. When I talk to Dogs fans, none are arking up that he isn't in first grade,

Look at Isaako. We would have fans burning effigies if one of our players was playing that bad.

All 4 would be upgrades.

At this stage, I’m right behind you sir. Let’s see what the boys serve up eh?

May not be off contract but I would certainly make a play for Lachlan Lewis.

The kid is going to be a really good player.
