wow

0:0 after 90 minutes

Central Coast score 2 goals in extra time to make it 2:0 with minutes to go
Queensland Roar then score 2 goals themselves

Roar take it out off penalties

Interesting game soccer, I know people who follow the game and get whipped up over a nil all draw- must have been rivetting.

Absolutely thrilling contest. I thought the Mariners had it for sure, then the Roar came from no where to steal it. Not a big A-League fan, but that was amazing, I guess I was kinda happy the Roar won, they did deserve it based on their season.

It wasnt that it was 0-0 after 90 but the fact that it was end to end action, technically brilliant from both sides, chances a plenty, and both keepers on top of there games. Then having 2-0 at half time of extra time only for 2 goals in 3 mins just before full time was unbelievable. I play soccer on weekends, Super league.. 2nd highest for my age in NSW and i watch alot of A-League and tonights game was one of the best games i've seen in Australia.

I missed it unfortunately.

It was always going to be a great game as the Mariners and Roar were definitely the most consistent teams of the season.

Didn't expect the scoreline to blow out in extra time though. Just goes to show how teams only train for the 90 minutes and not the extra time.

It was an awesome game to be at!! a packed suncorp is just beautiful thing.

Brisbane dominated through regular time but were playing to fancy at times, but the ending was incredible and as soon as it went to penalty shoot out i knew brisbane would win cos the goal keeper is sensational.

Well done Brisbane Roar!! I hope you hold on to alot of your players for next season.

p.s.
I sense wests tigers having a similiar run of being undefeated, i think the roar were 28 games without a loss

Please everyone, it was a terrible result.

A Grand Final decided by a penalty shoot-out. Why play at all? Let’s get to the business end and start with the penalty shoot-out and only if that is a draw should they actually play the game and keep playing until a result is achieved.

Soccer is a joke.

I was there too! It was absolutely amazing! One of the best live sporting events I've ever been too.
Obviously a long way behind the tigers 2005 grand final :sunglasses:

Ok mate calm down, in terms of the best team of the season winning the grand final it was a good result. Penalty shoot outs aren't ideal but if you have a pay for a good keeper then if they the teams are evenly locked up let the guy show what he can do.

In comparison to the tigers roosters game last year where both teams were so evenly matched, the game was decided by a (dont get me started) union style scrum? now that was a joke!!

But now that a-league is over i can't wait for tonight!! go tigers!!!!!

Penalty shoot outs are the worst thing in soccer.

Why don't they just do extra time and after every 5 minutes take 1 or 2 players off each team? Keep going until there is a result, even if it comes down to 1 on 1\. That would be far more entertaining for me to watch, and they would still be playing soccer!

Each to their own.

Out of curiosity, did you feel the same way after the Roosters and Tigers drew in the finals last year? Would you have rathered just watch the two sides dead on their feet for 20 minutes of extra time rather than battle it out for 100 minutes?

Surely you’re not suggesting by your question that it is satisfactory to decide the result of a national competition by penalty shoot-out?

All day I’ve heard what a great Grand Final it was, if not the best, a classic Grand Final.

The competition and result was decided by a penalty shoot-out. The game was irrelevant to the result. What a lousy way to win a competition.

I'll say it again, it's a joke.

but by that logic isn't taking a field goal in extra time a lousy way to win a competition?

Nope.

The problem soccer has is that the game proper has ceased and a new game is in play with entirely different rules.

It would be the equivalent of deciding a Rugby League Grand Final if it was drawn at full time/ extra time by having each player attempt to kick a goal from a set point. Whichever team kicks the most goals wins. Sounds crazy doesn’t it? Well so does a penalty shoot-out to decide a competition.

well whatever case i think both codes have a better way of deciding than AFL,

lets just play again next week?

for me thats a joke.

Sure is…
