A Letter to Grant

Also, I think Koro would fit in nicely in place of Chris. There is no doubt that Koro's attacking skills are right up there and he hits the line like a forward when we need to get out of our own 20\. His problem lies with his defence. Patty Richards is a very good defender he reads the plays well and he takes the high balls no problem.
When Koro was on for us the majority of his misses was from him coming in and backing his speed to get back and make the tackle which he missed plenty and the high ball. But if Patty is on his outside we aren't going to have these problems.
I would bet the dog on it, if we put koro on for Chris, all back line issues would be non-existent.
Thoughts?

At least 95% of supporters would agree with his letter. The reason it was addressed to Mayer is because the writer knows, as do 95% of team supporters know, is that Potter will still select these two in their same position for the rest of the season.

And what is Mayer going to do about that? He has stated many times on Twitter that it is the coaches role to select the team - he does not interfere with that, nor should he.

The article does little to present alternatives to the concerns vented. Koro could come in, but if he is leaving then why bother. Nofo could move to the Center position, but he is running on one leg and would only be more exposed. I have not seen enough of Fine to know whether he is a possibility either….

Austin is not ready to take over from Anasta in my opinion. When he is on the field for the full game he tends to go missing and be less effective than when injected off the bench.

I think we have no choice but to persist with these guys through to the end of the season, or until the younger brigade are ready. The coaching staff know our weeknesses, but resolving these will take time.

I don't know that I have every really seen a horse walk backwards!

Mayer can certainly do something about it. As is widely known the team is desperately short of at least one first grade centre with speed and defensive ability. Mayer is the man to fix this glaring weakness by instigating recruitment. It looks like he won't get one from this year's State Cup because although the squad's centres are playing well none throughout the year have yet been chosen break for first grade. Koro, a winger in great form in State Cup is leaving Wests Tigers because he has not been considered for first grade since very early this season.

If you have not seen a horse walk backwards then watch a trotting race where horses go through this process when they break during a race.

Supporters really need to learn their place.

You need to learn your place and respect other's opinions. I for one think he is exactly right.

This is a forum sweetheart, i don't have to respect anyones opinion, i can say what i want.

So also can the writer of the letter say what he wants.

Its all well and good to have an opinion and vent frustration. Its even okay to tell the world on forums like this what the coach should be doing. Thats where it stops though. When you go to the lengths to personally contact someone from the club and presume to tell them how to do their job, thats crossing the line. Not to mention very arrogant and somewhat ego driven to imagine they'd be bowled over by your astute observations and make them see something so blatantly obvious that even a ham and egger on the internet could point it out. You're supporters, not consultants.

Grow up. He is entitled to receive whatever mail people want to send him. Whether he takes anything from it is entirely up to him. Not the person who sent the letter, not me, not you.

It's one thing to tell the club where they are going wrong in regards to memberships, merchandising etc because as a supporter you are a factor. Giving the CEO coaching tips is misguided and isn't useful as the CEO is not the coach, the supporter base does not factor into the team performance by way of team selection and tactical discussion and finally there is plenty of people employed by/under contract to the club with plenty of experience to deal with this. It's all well and good that you coached the Shamrocks under 13's to grand final glory, it doesn't mean you are informed on the intricacies of managing a professional Rugby League side.

Having said that, the people are free to do as they please, but when you post on a forum you have to expect that not everyone will agree with your opinion.

I understand where the writer is coming from.
Whilst most will not believe that something will eventuate from this. As it will most probably not. The thoughts are echoed by most in the wests tigers community. ( as seen on this forum)

It sounds like frustration has got the better of the writer, and has made him put pen to paper. Where as most of us will talk about similar ideas in this forum but never take it any further.

Whilst delivery maybe lacking, I agree with sentiments.

I can't fault for effort, and if he strongly believes this, can't blame him for attempting to get his voice heard.

Better to try and fail, then to never try at all.

We can? Oh happy days! Guess being a forum it would be stupid to whinge that someone made a comment that you didn't agree with.

Now that we have cleared that up, we shouldn't be seeing a repeat of past crying.
