A very important question

A hot cup of tea is always nice. Campbelltown used to hand out boxes of Kripsy Cream donuts. Cup of hot tea a donut on a cold winters night, watching the Benji and Robbie show !!

Does it get any better ??

I say no.

unfortunately the food at the NRL games is no good theses days :frowning:

I rarely eat at the games.

But at grass roots footy there is nothing better than a steak sandwich at the footy, Im equally ok with the pie and chips as well.

I get to the Shute Shield (rugby union) as often as the missus allows me , and often look forward to the BBQ as much as the footy.

I think whats so ironic about this thread is although Demps pretty much spams this forum at times, 18 posts into a thread which suits him down to the ground, and he is yet to post here..

Yeah dog, I was like the 4th person to post in this thread…
But some one deleted it for some reason, was an awesome post too.
Very disappointed with the nazi mods of this site. shame.

ah well, all is fair when you don't pay the bandwidth bills.

but seriously Demps, what do you eat at the game?

Aha, as I stated in my original post.
I check out games @ Ausgrid stadium often, in Newcastle
and IF I'm feeling hungry, come half time - I make a dash to be first in line and get a $8 pie with tomato sauce and an orange juice.
Not into chips / hot dogs / whatever other over priced stuff they sell, don't even like pies that much (except Villi's pies) but thats what I do.

not really a favourite, but I have vivid memories or eating peanuts at Leichhardt as a kid. A guy would walk around selling bags of peanuts, "candy coated or in the shell"I can still smell/taste them

Haha yes! Had one of those dudes at Lidcombe all the time too! 20 cents a bag! I OD'd on the sugar coated ones quite a lot back then. Pies were my staple diet and they were pretty good at most grounds, except for the ones at Cumberland Oval. Don't know if anyone here remembers them, but they were an oval shape and the meat inside was very pale and luke warm most of the time - sounds real appetising eh? lol

When I go to the games these days I end up taking my own packed lunch, snacks and thermos of coffee because eveything is too darn expensive. I mean pies are nice, but $8? I don't think so.

Cant remember the last time i bought something to eat @ the footy, its overpriced & tastes like crap. my daughter & i usually get a coffee @ leichhardt oval.

Bug saves the whisky bottle until Sheens comes out. Then it becomes a projectile

when my two sons come with me, they have 2 buttered bread rolls each, and put packets of chips, whether salt & vinegar, barbecue, or chicken on them.
a 18 pack of chips the snack size, 6 pack of poppers fruit juice drink.
as they are still usually hungry, :unamused: we bet on benji converting a try and if he does, :master: then they are allowed, only once , to go get hot chips with sauce. I have two salad rolls, and two bottles of water.

Just a diet coke and a coffee when at Leichhardt. The food there is awful. Remember when we looked forward to buying a pie under the grandstand too…..althought the pie warmers were a bit dodgy. If we were lucky we'd get a hot dog on the way out.

BYO drinks and snacks, sometimes hot chips and a hot chocky if it's cold, then KFC on the way home from Campbo, and whatever takeaway we come to first on the way home from LO.

Oh, can I grab a lift home from Campbo one day/night. am dying for a manburger and this isn't a kfc within cooee of my place. :stuck_out_tongue:

It's a pie, chips and drink (either a beer or coke) at Campbo and SFS. Sausage on a roll with onions and drink at Leichhardt.

Sure!

Eating a meat pie on the hill at Lidcombe oval in the late 70's whilst watching Tommy, the late Dallas Donnelly, Boyd, Bruce Gibbs bash the crap out of Manly.

Best food was at the old North Sydney oval. Great suburban ground to watch a game but the parking was shocking.

If Norths were allowed to die was didn't South Sydney go do the same path. Always had a soft spot for the bears.

Doesn't matter the ground, always do the following (designed for 2 people):

Bring water (2 1L bottles), vietnamese bread rolls (4 of them, they're 5 for $2 at a bread shop near my home) {used to be a bag of hotdog rolls but it is cheaper with the vietnamese rolls and you also get more for your money} cut and buttered and chocolate brownies (sometimes a bag lollies as well), and a squeeze bottle of tomato sauce.

At around half time in the 20's buy a cup of chips and have hot chip rolls.

After the twenties, buy fish and chips, have another chip roll and the fish (half each).

*occasionally hot drinks will be brought or bought as well, though only on the odd occasion.

All of it gets us through the main game and the trip home (especially if we are at Leichhardt or the SFS as campbelltown is only a 10-15 minute drive from my place), if not any leftovers can be eaten on the way home.

Lucky the footy is only on once a week. I'm a bit worried about the balance of that diet Craegus. I would be heading for the Biggest Loser if I ate all that.

Surprisingly it isn't as much as it seems,

The cups of chips and fish and chips aren't that big (even though the cost of them would say different!!!) and that is halved between the two of us that go. If it was one each then it would be a different story.
