Aaron Woods - Signs with Bulldogs 2018 - Sharks 2018 [Official]..

The captain is the leader. If you think woods has acted appropriately then that is your opinion. I stand by my comments. But one thing is for certain he will never be a captain at the dogs or roosters. I hope his buddy Moses has told him this.
Internally the board would be disappointed with woods and the saga constantly in the media. I think the club is right to,set a deadline know that a new coach is there. I know one thing and that no player is bigger than the club and have been told that recruitment is in overdrive by the Tigers and more signings are expected. I just dont like the way Moses and co have acted like rats on a sinking ship

Take off the blinders, would you pick Woods to start as a captain if we were starting afresh? Absolutely not. He could say the word inspiration let alone deliver an inspiring speech.

Which makes him a rubbish captain

He doesnt have to imply anything the record and performance of our club is there for all to see and to his credit he has been able to reach rep level while consistently playing in an underperforming side.
This forum is littered with fans who continually tear strips off the players and the club and now when our two best players are weighing up their futures, because of those very reasons, they are mud.
This club has taken too long to get its act together and they might be sick of waiting

Finally a modicum of commonsense amongst all the emotional claptrap and misguided hatred!

Why is it common sense? What's happening ATM points to our management being a basket case? What are they doing wrong?

Mate the club has been a shambles for years! You know this, surely? The consistent mis-management of the cap, paying overs for players who simply aren't worth it and not being able to sign anyone who is, parting ways with Sheens on a sour note which ended up with the club being sued, the bad treatment of Potter, the whole saga of the so called Farah/JT feud resulting in Farah being forced out yet the club is still paying 750K for him to play for Souths and now only 3 weeks into a new season JT - the coach who was supposedly backed by all and sundry at the club, is sacked!

The players must be wondering wtf is going on. All this unsettling crap going on in the background, all the time, has to affect the mindset of the team when they train and play, despite what they always say to the contrary in the media. I'm not saying the players shouldn't take responsibility for their consistently poor performances over the years - they should for sure, ultimately they are the ones doing it on the field. However, the 2 players, who are being savagely criticised by many on here, simply because they want to weigh up other options regarding their future, instead of making a hasty decision to re-sign with a consistently under-performing team and an historically mis-managed club, just do not deserve it.

Woods and Tedesco have busted their butts for the Wests Tigers for several years now - they are not the players bludging or shirking responsibility in matches. They have not had a lot of solid support around them because we can never afford to buy anyone decent due to bad cap management. They have both managed to earn rep honours, despite playing in relatively poor sides that have never made the finals and as Telltails said, perhaps they are sick of waiting for this club to get it's act together and have finally had enough.

Who the hell are we to judge their decisions anyway?

But we're not talking about what's gone on in the past. At this very moment, what drama is going on within the club. It's a cop out to blame what's gone on in the past when the house now is in order.

Teddy and Woods have lost me. I hope they go because they've left a sour taste in my and a lot of Tigers supporters mouths.

I'm nearly with you here. I think we'd be better off without Woods. I'd like to see Tedesco stay but I don't like his attitude lately.

Still if they stay on reasonable money and win a comp for us I'll be cool with it.

It's easy to blame the board or the past coaches.

Whats the one constant though, the players.

Don't expect them to take ownership of it anytime soon though.

True Eddy but the two players everyone on here is having a go at are our best performers.
Brooks who has been a whipping boy on here for two years has suddenly become a forum favourite - until he plays his next below par game and the knives will be out again.
The management are responsible for putting together our roster and managing our cap. So much energy was foccussed on getting rid of Farah maybe that time should have been directed at extending either Woods or Teddy or both, and just let Farah play out his contract. They knew Broses was up this year why leave all four till now?. Its like they just blindy assumed that their signatures were a given regardless of the all dramas off field.
I get why fans are disgruntled but attacking Woods and Teddy for possibly being over it - uncalled for IMO…but may help make their decision a little easier.

You don't bite the hand that feeds you in the media.

Do it behind closed doors.

They are the senior players representing a team getting pumped all week.

Sick of apologists for them. Am sure they have enough surrounding them.

But they've had Dud Coaches…

Woods deserves a bit more respect ..sure I don;t think he's a great Skipper but he;s carried this team in the past 4 years just as much as Farah dud from 2007-11..

The strong leaders in the NRL like Smith,Friend,Croker and Gallen would've gone into bat for their Clubs during this process. It shows to me that Woods shouldn't be Captain as I think he sees it as a burden instead of a privilege.

Farah won a comp and was involved in three sides that made the Top 4.

Woods doesn't deserve any more respect at all.

He is captain and with that comes responsibility.

He could have put a halt to all this rubbish weeks ago. Instead he has let it fester.

I was no JT fan but he played a big role in bringing him down.

But is the house really in order? What indications are there that the house is now suddenly in order - the signing of Cleary really doesn't guarantee anything. I thought we were supposed to be starting afresh this season under JT's guidance, with the players _he_ wanted, free of the distraction of Farah and everything was gonna be great, but they only gave him 3 weeks!

I hope I'm wrong, I truly do, but the club has promised so much before, only for it to amount to nothing. I'm pretty sure that Woods & Teddy are thinking likewise, hence their delay in re-signing. You really can't blame them for that.

I think a lot of people are thinking up criticisms and hurtful words to ease the potential of these players leaving. Easier to see the back of someone you've convinced yourself to dislike.

I genuinely dislike woods. Would love to see him leave an not have to watch him 26 times a year.

Teddy leaving will be upsetting…if what you say is true I better start laying the boot into him.

Teddy...you're shi...I can't do it. Please don't leave.

How can you possibly claim the "house is in order"?The renovator has only just pulled up and started checking the foundation and trying to order new essential parts to hopefully fit in with what he can salvage.Hopefully what you are claiming now will be correct in 2018
Give Cleary time to do what has to be done at the moment it is a work in progress and will be for quite a while.Go WT onward and upward

I think Woods got the captaincy way to early in his career.

Unfortunately we have invested in to much young talent in key roles ignoring experience, you cant buy experience. We have let go and pushed solid veterans away from the team, which has put alot of strain on Woods. Not making excuses for him, I found it hard to watch the recent interviews but I would like to see him after 12 months working with Ivan.

The team had lost their way but now we have Ivan. His experience in this exact situation is key, this would be the most challenging of the 3 but if you were to pick a coach you had to put money on to pull it off my money would be on Ivan.

Ivan will turn things around with some good signings of experience and good character.

And I am sure Ivan will make decisions on captaincy in the coming weeks.

I dont have a problem with Teddy or Woods. Its a huge decision - career changing.
They are frustrated because they have never played finals footy - the very thing we as fans are frustrated by and fillthy at our club for.
Yet when they baulk at signing on for another three to four years when they have got other options - their character is questioned?
Understand fans being disappointed, but the attacks on their character is unwarranted simply because they are being offered an opportunity that we dont want them to take.
Bag them enough and probably make the decision a whole lot easier for them.

if they are frustrated at not playing finals footy all they have to do is look how they have conducted themselves over the last 12 months with their protracted contract negotiations….They have deliberately dragged this out too long and through the media...how can they have their minds on playing for the WT when they act like prima donas.

I cant wait to see the reaction to the "big4" when they are announced at the next home game….especially if they sign elsewhere
