All bias aside… I really thought Woodsy was the stand out prop of the year.
I believe Sam Kasiano took the Dally M for it, So I decided to compare stats and
here they are:
Aaron Woods Sam Kasiano
Played: 24 22
Hit Ups: 381 249
All Run Meters: 3318 2146
Tackles: 842 412

Averages / Game:
Hit Ups: 15.87 / 11.31
Run Meters: 138.25 / 94.54
Tackles: 35.08 / 18.72

As an added note, Here are Matt Scotts Av. Stats
Hit Ups: 15.47
Run Meters: 142.17
Tackles: 25.05
Given that Matt played only 17 Games and Woods played 24...
I would assume Woods was in fact by far the BEST PROP in the comp this year!

Further Proof that nobody is interested in a beaten team.
 
Yeah Woods was good but I have no issues with Kasiano getting prop of the year.

I don't know what the stats are but Kasiano played a huge role in many of the Bulldogs tries and line breaks, something Woods didn't do as much. Kasiano is one of the significant reasons why the Dogs are into the final 4.

Woods was brilliant and either of them were deserved winners for different reasons.
 
The only other stat ild be curious to know is the average minutes of Woods and Kasiano.

With no disrespect to Woods, he (along with Galloway) seem to play fairly long minutes, as compared to Kasiano who always seems to be sucking in the big ones on the sideline.

I think with an indication of how long these two are on the field would tell us how much impact these boys have.

Again, no disrespect to Woods and I wouldn't want to imply Kasiano is undeserving of his achievement but the time on the field must be taken into consideration.

I can appreciate that…
But I would look at it on the other side of the coin, Paying credit for what they achieved when they went to work..
Not how long they went for!!
One thing the other 2 props would have over Woods is offloads...
But I would also put this down to our support players (Or lack there of!!)

x2 - cant take anything away from Kasiano.
 
personally I think tamou was the best prop this year followed by woods. it was ridiculous that kasiano won prop of the year, he wasn't even the best prop at the dogs

stats dont lie was no coincidence woods was our highest rating player in the dally m's

put woods into the dogs team he would have won prop of the year hands down
 
We get the same argument every year.
The prop of the year should be the highest scoring (in dally m points) prop of the year. ie woods.
And same for all the other positions.
I guess they don't want to stuff up their ceremony. You'd only find out the prop,centre, etc of the year at the end of the vote count.
But its still unfair. Its based on judges prejudice etc.

Woods was the best prop this year, hit the advantage line pretty much every hit up and took minimum 3 defenders to put him down and still offloads with so much traffic on him . Those stats are a big difference but you do have to look at the minutes cause Woods has a big motor on him. Will be the Origin prop next year , minimum of the bench..
 
His ability to hit the holes in the defenders is second to none. Such a great prop, was the best prop in the NRL this year overall and will only get better.

however, metres/hit up

woods: 8.7 m
kasiano: 8.6 m

people claim kasiano had more impact, however they both had relatively similar amount of metres/hit up
woods tackled more and was more defensively sound than kasiano.
the only thing going in kasiano's favour is that he created chances, rather than the traditional hit hard and defend role of the prop, which woods did better than any other in the comp.

however, tamou was more dangerous than woods.. so he should've gotten it.

Yeah woods played a lot more minutes this year though. To still get a higher average m's per hit up with so much extra game time is an achievement in itself.
