ACTION ALREADY FOR 2013

Tedesco was impressive to watch this year, maybe the talked about increase in funding to clubs will help retain him with the WTs.

Whilst on the subject of Tedesco, whom I havent seen play, can someone advise the difference betweeh him & Mullaney, who looked perhaps even more promising at the same age,but never quite kicked on in JBC??

Tedesco is more of a complete footballer in my opinion. Bigger than Mullaney, better ballplaying game and better defensively, good pace and vision. Very strong for his age too. I won't be surprised if he gets a run in FG next year.

Thanks Willow.Mullany was tiny for what has become a big mans game these days(big problem under the high ball, tho Slater handles it ok), a bit one dimensional in attack(great back-up,but that was it) & shaky in defence to be honest.
Tedesco ticks the right boxes for me then

i dont think tedesco will be the next billy slater even though i've never seen him play. Billy slater is one in a million, far and few.

This Tedesco kid sounds like he has talent but please don't compare him to Slater, the greatest fullback the game has ever seen

And also i agree with Ink, there have been several players in the past who have been built up as the next big thing. I.e Mullany, Lazarus etc, and we're seeing it atm with John Grant. Just tread carefully people. Its good to see potential coming through, but just be level headed in the way you look at things. From what i understand the kid is still 17, and despite his potential, atm i'd take Brett Stewart in a heartbeat over Tedesco. You'd be crazy not to

I don't remember 1 let alone 2 NRL clubs willing to pay six figure amounts for either Mullany or Lazarus before they had even played a game of 1st Grade ?

And they have for tedesco?

Where?

Its clear we are talking about people on this forum talking up promising youngsters to be the next big thing

Think its all about hope rather than expectation for all of these developing backs.Like lazurus & Mullaney,at this stage Tedeco has demonstrated against same age players the "potential"to develop further, but quite honestly at 17/18yo the odds are probably stacked against him if i were a betting man.Having said that,Id rather roll the dice in his favor in such a key position & give him every support to succeed & make it with WT.We owe that to ourselves as well as him-a given.
Grants at a very different stage of the development curve at 22-he's got proven size , proven pace & good hands,& has been a success in club rugby(about equiv to JBC) against grown men.The only thing that can honestly prevent him from being a success in NRL is his ability to cope with the physicality.Thats why Im delighted with his committment to bulk up ,even at the possible expense of a little top end speed(which he has plenty of)..he's giving himself every chance.
I have a good feeling about this bloke, but like everything in NRL,there are no certainties(…except maybe Lawrence offloading to Grant in space!!)

There is nothing wrong with wanting the "next big thing" to play NRL for Wests Tigers to be born and bred in the Western Suburbs of Sydney for a change.

David Nofaluma another promising youngster met with Gus Gould the other day. That's our two best Western Suburbs Juniors looking elsewhere. Why ?

Why are Balmain juniors like Sironen and Lovett signed long term and Tedesco and Nofaluma not ?

I agree Blackandwhite.
If Weststigers win the Comp then so be it.
But if they don't and we lose these two guys then something is wrong because with the talent we do have we should win the 2012 NRL with daylight second.
It's a no brainer!!!!!!!
At this stage I will give the Management of WestsTigers the benefit of the douht but if the results don't eventuate then serious questions need to be asked & changes should be made to who picks the young talent & which young talent is retained long-term!!!!! :sign:
Just my opinion!!!

They are keen to keep both tho…. We will lose some of this young crop coming thru... Noafluma and Tedessco seem to be the 2 I like most, and if others agree may be the hardest to keep (given more interest from other clubs)

Tedessco is a mile ahead of Mullaney at the same point.

Not forgetting Marika Koroibete,
He has so much potential and is a crowd pleaser, he has to be kept. !

It's this this sort of thing that really annoys me, the club losing very good juniors that is. I hope it's a case that the Tigers will come to the party for both James and David once season 2012 kicks off because it's clear they are both rated highly by being promoted straight out of SG Ball to Toyota Cup. Really hope I'm worrying about nothing here.
