Adam Blair told to look for another club

When a club shelves out big money on players (and coaches) who don't fire, the club is beginning a downward spiral. Whatever the financial cost Wests Tigers management need to have the courage to remove players like Blair, Anasta, Fulton and Tuquiri before next year. These players are a huge liability in any first grade team. Potter is also starting to look a huge liability as a first grade coach.

You were making sence until you out Fulton's and Potter's names in your post.

I think it made sense regardless. Fulton will really struggle to make the 17 next year and Potters performance has been woeful. You can make excuses until the cows come home but at the end of the day our attack and defence have been absolutely woeful. It had nothing to do with injuries - we were just as bad when playing at full strength.

Potter is treated like a god on this forum and it mystifies me.

no he's not.. he has a contract for next year and everyone is waiting till tht end of the contract to judge him.

Potter isn't treated as a god on this forum, its just that people rightly defend him in the face of some posters pure ignorance.

But he has made missteps, and he has been called on it by the majority here.

you watch how Adam Blair improves in 2014, and a lot more again in 2015.
players do it all the time when they are coming to be off contract.
if his form has not had a massive improvement for all of 2014, , then at beginning of 2015, tell him his contract won't be renewed because he has not provided value for money.

It's true that Blair's recent form has been much better than it was last year. Some one pointed out on here recently that we always leak points after the first prop rotation. That must have something to do with what Blair is contributing, as well as Galloway of course.

As for suggesting that Fulton won't make the team next season. Newtown, have you gone off yr medication again?? He was our best player this year and is in the prime of his career. He's an outside chance for State of Origin in 2014\. Yeh, why don't we shop him to the Sharks like everyone else? He can laugh all the way to the playoffs!

I just wish Fulton would just get out of the bloody way…why does he have to get involved in every play?
Thank God I never have to see another Marshall inside ball to Fulton...Smash.
Just get out of the way...Do your tackling fair enough but let the big guys try and break the line and get out of the backline let Simona and co do their stuff.

Origin next year? Have you gone completely insane?

No one can question Fulton commitment he try's hard tackles hard for 80 minutes but the truth is he lacks size power and cannot bend the line , a problem we have always had with our engine room hence why we cannot compete with the big guns.

Also Fulton was shopped around and not one club showed any interest , as for making origin no chance.I personally think he will struggle next year to cement a spot in the starting 13.

Earlier i was thinking about our pack next year and with everyone fully fit i couldnt find a place for Blair in the 17\. So for his price tag im hoping he goes.

Next year we need to get the mix right between size n power, ball playing and workhorses.

Fulton is the workhorse of the pack. Play him at lock where he cant rack up 50 tackles a game.

On the edges we need size and mobility with the ability to offload. Sirro, BMM, Sue, Paterson, Tapua and possibly Gavet all fill this role.

Up front we need size and aggression. Woods, Tapau, Ava, Brown, Galloway all fit this job better than Blair.

So where does he fit in with that price tag, depth? No thanks. I class Buchanan as a similar player as Blair so Jack can add to our depth for 1/3 of the price

I can't see a place for Blair or Fulton in the 17 next year.

Bench spot at best for either one provided all forwards are injury free. We need go forward and have better options available IMO.

Unless someone is going to step and have a go like Fulton in defence then he is needed from kick off. As for Blair, it would be a near miracle to find a club willing to take him can't see it happening.

Fulton, if he had another 6 kg would have played SOO for years, he has shown more heart & go forward than any other forward all year. He will be outstanding in 14 around the young blokes
He reminds me do a D Brooks with great ball skills & foot work

Those who want Blair gone have to realise he's only going to get half what tigers pay him at another club and tiges will have to make up the difference. Is that a good deal for tigers? The damage was done in the poor deal tigers struck to sign Blair, the club has to suck it up for 2 more years.

Stop fixating on the duff contract he was give. It was a shocker, but it can't be undone now. The question is whether we're better off with Blair or using whatever can be saved on his contract elsewhere. If it turns out that someone else will pay half his contract, that means deciding whether we can do better with $300k than with Blair. Given Blair's new role is, basically, middling prop I'd be astonished if we can't spend that money better elsewhere.

No club will take Blair without us paying for a fair chunk of his contract,so what do we gain by shopping him around. Also now that he is been shopped around what will his head space be like in 2014 if no clubs take up his contract????Would hard to see him being very motivated.
If we have a marquee signing we are trying to make cap space available for I understand flicking Blair, but that is not the case

I guess it goes something like this. If we can convince another club to take him for $400k per season and we top it up by $200k. We can then use the $400k saved to secure a player that we believe is better value over the next two seasons. It makes sense if we believe the $400k can be put to better use or throw it in the bank.

Realistically, I can't see a club, with the exception of Parramatta, buying Blair for more than $300k. Given it will cost us another $300k to fill his contract, I can't justify letting him go. Getting quality forwards must be hard when blokes like Darsey Lussick go for $350k per season.

I don't know where this $600,000 price tag came from. When he was signed the papers were all saying $400,000 and that was probably more than we actually paid.

I'm happy for Blair to stay the next two years, he does do some good stuff, he just needs a bit more muscle and consistency around him in the forwards.
