I thought back end of last year he started to hit some form for the Magpies and looks like he has built off it.
Could also be the impact of Api, Klem and Papa showing these kids what is needed to get to the next level.

He was the only bloke who constantly kept trying, bent the line and had any impact in State Cup 2022.

James and all the young guys that played yesterday showed grit and potential...I know we need good young players,but I would hate to see them rushed into the NRL and pressured to perform,they do need experience and work to learn their trade,but also need a bit more time to develop their skills...I would hate to see a lot of them on the sideline for a length of time because they pushed themselves to impress and get a severe injury ...I know injuries are part of the game but we had TT out for a whole year,AD,Blore etc and thats why we ended up where we did last year because of lack of quality depth,this year it appears our depth is far stronger and the young guys should learn well in the lower grades as long as our big names stay fit and on the field this year would definately set a solid platform for the next couple of years..Its a shame that Ken appears to have another bad injury to his knee again,he performed well last year even on the one leg...I wish him a speedy recovery and all the best in his getting back on the field for us...

Yeah, I think being a bit older will help him if he ends up playing NRL later in the year.

Yeh 100%, it’s good to have young talent it’s just knowing when they’re ready is the hard part. But James looks primed to play nrl, cannot wait to watch him progress in his career and hope he can do it in a tigers jersey

Its trials but I think the change in coaching but more importantly the additions of quality experienced forwards is huge for the guys.
Api and Klem are one thing, Papa is still young but knows how to win but all 3 have been at strugglers and also have been at winners. They have all experienced what we went through last few years but more importantly know what it takes to get out of it.
Furner and Robbie I think are also crucial to the mix.
Very very early days and its amazing what a win does but players like James I feel could have a breakout season in 23 or 24 which is why building for 25 is exciting.
I agree he looked impressive!
