Very hard to get excited about this week, next week or next year. Fingers crossed the likes of Madden and Simkins have massive pre seasons and get a go in 2021

Here’s who missed out:

**Blore:** Not match fit
**Bradley:** Seems very average
**MCK:** We know exactly what he adds, very little
**Cini:** not rated by many on here
**Clark:** Off contract and a plodder
**Hoffman:** Not in our top 30 until 2022
**Jennings:** Major plodder and off contract
**McQueen** Plodder and off contract
**Seyfarth** Off contract and average
**Simpkin** deserves a run
**Dylan Smith** off contract and looks average
**Jock Madden** Deserves a run
**Talau** Has been down on form, played plenty this season

Really not many options for Madge when you look at it. People wouldn’t be happy if we played Seyfarth, Clark and McQueen over forwards who are actually contracted for next season?

Simpkin and Madden the only two who really deserve a shot

How is Blore going to get match fit?

THIS.

He missed an off season due to rehab and this is his first season in the NRL, whats the need to have him there every game. Im sure he will feature heavily next year after an off season under his belt and more time with the squad and the guidance of the coaching staff.

'selections to be made looking towards the future'

....yet we name: Marshall, ET, Packer, Reynolds, Lawrence and leave out of the 21: Blore (who was the only one trying to offload the ball last week) and Madden

I’d be surprised if Blore plays another game. Doesn’t look fit at all to me and has only been given limited minutes because of it. Had no pre season and coming off a bad injury it’s understandable.

I like Blore, but did notice on a few tackles he made, he was left on the ground when the Penrith player was up playing the ball, and we were left with only one marker, with the Penrith hooker then using that to his advantage.

At least twice I saw that.

He’s looked slow and tired out there a few games. Not his fault but can understand being left out

Yep, so much for big changes

The players need to pull their fingers out and prove the coach wrong in thinking about dropping them, but I just can't see that happening.

Did the coach say there would be big changes? People on the forum and the media did not the coach

"I'll definitely be looking at [picking the team with a focus on the future]. I want to be able to see the depths of some of the people we have in the organisation," Maguire said.

Reasons why I was expecting big changes

That doesn’t sound like there’ll be big changes at all. Majority of the team selected will be here next season and majority of those who missed out won’t be or we’ve already seen them play. He’s put asu out there and switched Doueihi to centre

There are not many first grade players that were not in the team last week that can be picked.
Maybe it is time to define the roles differently. Who is making the decisions and distributing the ball from the middle? Who is supporting when a player makes a break in the middle third?

The only real guys I want to see play are Madden and Simpkin. We’ve seen what the rest of them have to offer so not sure who else could come in. Blore maybe but he’s not very fit.

I’d say that may prove counterproductive as far as their development and confidence.
Just no value in throwing in young, inexperienced, hardly payed a match this year and not fit. Asking for trouble.
I agree ... best to keep powder dry until next year.

I’m with you Josh the unrealistic selection choices people expect Madge to be making are just beyond belief.

Until people understand that there is nothing in our coffers to select from which for us long suffering WTs fans it’s all very much just rinse and repeat at the moment and unless this current group of players becomes accountable and fight for their playing futures at the club I can’t see it changing anytime soon.

Understandable, but if you look at the only suggestable people, its Madden and Simpkin who might get a look through. Spine players in a forward pack that is constantly being dominated with no real leaders on a pitch isnt the smartest idea.

The benefit is the experience they will get. Simpkin is 18 who has only played 1 first grade game. Thus Madden is the only real option, I dont like the idea of just chucking in Madden right after whats just happened. The kid will still feel added pressure. Maybe over the next few weeks he might get a shot but I dont think it wouldve been the right time, after whats transpired over the last few days. Just my thoughts.

I get that for sure. Maybe give them limited minutes

The halves have CONSTANTLY failed to build pressure and get the final tackle options right...

We have been hammered for a month now...Dogs game our only win, and that form is terrible.

Perfect chance to try some changes and see if another pair can do better...absolutely nothing to lose...

Yet the the halves remain.

I know there's not many options, I guess I was hoping to see AD move to 6, Brooks at 7.

Now that we know Benji wont be at the club next year, he deserves to see off the rest of the year with us.

Very underwhelming, like our club as a whole.
The only interest is how Kepoa goes, hopefully he puts his debut nightmare behind him and has a great game.
Mbye will be good for at least 1 or 2 drops at the back.

As a few sensible posters have suggested, the reality is that Simpkin and Madden, who you must remember are development players, may just not be ready - having not played at all this season, let alone at NRL level. I can't imagine throwing them into a tough game against Manly would do much for their development! Unfortunately in our squad there is no other player, other than Blore that you could expect to get a run.
The fact that they have numbers on their backs also doesn't mean that Madge isn't going to do a bit of position swapping. We may well see AD receiving at 5/8 for a bit of the game.
