An interesting statistic

Hang on ,didn't we have a bye in Round 1 one particular season ??

So for at least 80 minutes we would of been on top of the table

And after our Round 1 win v the Dragons in 06 on the Friday wouldn't we have been on top of the table at least for a day ??

According to a stat found on another forum, Wests Tigers have never been leading the competition at the end of any round since their inclusion in the competition.

to get all technical, they have actually led after the final round of the finals in 2005….

Technically the season is over after round 26, so technically your wrong 😛

No its not. The season is over after the grand final.

the ladder doesn't change when the finals series takes place, so technically, the season ends and the final series takes place, technically.

I agree the regular season ends. I also agree that you cannot be leading the comp during the finals. I also agree that once the comp ends there is no "leader" but instead you have a "winner". However, i still dont agree that season ends at the end of the regular season.

Yes,but F/A we would not have been first with a 0 F/A.

less than 1 leg? im a bit tired, but what am i missing there?

your sense of humour…not trying to sound harsh, but he is obviously being flippant.

and anyway, is this a statistic or a fact? are all statistics facts? not all facts are statistics....

now im confused - and that is a statistic! 😕

yea i just dont get the joke?

the 1 testicle i get (women = 0, men = 2 so on avg 1)

No one has 3 legs, and there is a percentage of the population who have lost one or both legs, therefore the average is very close to, but less than 2 legs.

The phrase is something one of my lecturers at Uni used to say, Stats without context can be misleading, despite being true.

Stuck with me…. i was being silly, but they are both true "stats" despite being misleading

Considering in the first few years of the NRL we were known as the Premiers of February (or March - can't remember) due to our ability to win our first couple of games every season i might have thought we had been first at some point, but we rarely flog teams, especially not in the first round.

Balmain was on top of the ladder at the end of round 1 in 1998 after flogging the Gold Coast. That might be the last time WT/Balmain/Wests were on top..?

No one has ever been able to explain this to me , but why do we need to give out two points for a bye ??

could just as easily give no points…

I prefer 2 points, just because the teams on bye advance with the winners, rather than fall behind through no fault of their own (even though it evens up in the end)

but as you say, no points works just as well.

Technically….finals series are another comp all together, and while no premiership points are played for, for and against does come into it at times....but OP did say ''any round''
Bring on Rd 1 in a hurry plz

 this is what we have become due to tigers withdrawal!

I know there are a few ifs in this but …...........................

Parra beat Penrith

Bulldogs beat Storm and we beat the Warriors by 6 ...................

Or we beat the Warriors by a 4 point bigger margin than Penrith beat Parra

Some team we all love will be top of the table

Who'd have thought after Round 1

this is actually doable…. wow!

im tipping warriors because we usually win when i tip the other way (e.g. souths).

edit: also, slight typo there happy

What about dragons?

they just lost quite handsomely, we'd only need to win by 6 to match them. and if we win, we'll probably win well.

for some reason i cant see warriors vs tigers as a tight match. (but now that i've said that i bet it ends up a draw after golden point…. )
