The last time Braith Anasta started a game at halfback it cost coach Chris Anderson his job and the Sydney Roosters lost 56-0.

Fast forward six years and Tigers coach Mick Potter has turned to the former NSW playmaker to partner Benji Marshall in a bid to try and kick-start his side's poor early season form.

The Tigers are 1-3 for the season, and the failure to turn good possession into points in last Friday's 22-0 loss to Manly saw Potter lose faith in young Jacob Miller and turn to Anasta.

Although he's now one of the elder statesmen of the NRL Anasta says he's hugely excited about forming a combination with Tigers superstar Marshall against a red-hot Melbourne side.

"I'm really looking forward to it," he said.

"I haven't been on the ball too much for the opening few rounds and now I'm going to be back in the middle organising the action with Benji."

Anasta played most of his 13-year career either at five-eighth or the back-row apart from that forgettable day against the Sea Eagles at Brookvale in round 16, 2007.

But the 31-year-old said he has no concerns about playing in the role and that it will differ to that of a traditional No.7.

"I am not playing as a typical halfback, I will be mixing it up with Benji at second receiver and probably like no other halfback in the comp," he said.

"If I can get him some quality ball then the Wests Tigers will be better for it.

"It will be good to get my hands on the ball a bit more and being directing the team from the middle with Benji."

Marshall said the experience of Anasta will benefit the Tigers against a Storm side that have not tasted defeat since July 27 last year.

"I think he was initially signed as a half and I think we've trained well together this week," Marshall said.

"He takes the pressure off me a bit and gives me a bit more freedom.

"He was in the last NSW team that won a State of Origin series so he knows what he's doing."

This is the second time I have picked up a really bad mistake (the other online)

Aren't we 2 wins, 2 losses.. ??

Why are these so called journalists statin we are 1-3 ??

This is annoying… Maybe we are playing average and it's just assumed we Have 1 win --- I'm pretty sure we beat panthers and then the eels... Sometimes you wonder what research is done unless its a proof reader issue

another theory of why jacob was dropped might be coz he wasn't able to give marshall the quality ball he wanted.

maybe potter is giving benji a warning that this half combo is as far as it's gonna go with you in the halves?

The thing that sticks out most to me is Melbourne haven't had a single loss since mid last year….just imagine that.

C'mon he got the two teams right

He could of called us Balmain

Imagine the 30 odd pages of crap that would of started

Sounds like Braith is going to be @ 7 for the rest of the year….they should let Miller go elsewhere then....

Will be interesting to see if we have more structure with Anasta. Hope this is a rev up for Miller to come back hungry for his spot, not get pissed and look for a new club. Put miller in Reggies to play against Men and see how he comes back, better than before I'm hoping.

Easily his best game in Tigers colours . Just didn't understand the bombs ,instead of plugging balls into the corners or finding touch

When we controlled them from the scrum plays after we found touch in the first half we were a much stronger side

I would be surprised if we see miller again to be honest.

Barring an injury i cant see it happening.

Miller is one of those unfortunate players, too good for reserves, but not good enough for firsts.

Agree about the bombs, theres were 2 or 3 that still didn't land on the tryline, instead 10-20 metres out (not sure who kicked those ones)

IMO kicking was still a little off tonight, but theres was 3 players sharing the role. Once we underline who will be putting in the majority of kicks we will look a little more structured.

Anasta actually ran a lot of the show out there. Saw him pointing and yelling at alot of players. R & B included. Miller would never have taken the ball off farah after a penalty to slow the interrupted play down last night to give the forwards a rest. It was rather refreshing to see.
His kicking game on the 5th was also nice mixup. But the bombs were not tops. His defence was also better.

I think we found our 7 ladies and gentlemen. Albeit the the biggest and oldest one in the comp.
