Anasta wasted

agree with a lot of people here. a lot of people predicted this as well.. a couple more games though.. "try to find his way in the team" et al

he's wasting his golfing talent masquerading as a second rower each week.

Just finding his feet. Once he and Potter figures out his best way to fit in the team I think it will add that 3rd dimension we have been looking for. Don't write him off already.

im 10% thinking that.. 90% of me still says he's gonna fail miserably, hopefully potter knows when to stop persisting with him

I like the buy - I am confident he will be running off marshall into holes before long.. Just takes time with a new team. He will add a little ball play once his confidence grows.. Bit early to bag after 3 games.

I agree with everyone that he is not injecting himself but i also think its because he doesnt want to step on anyones toes at this point. Between robbie and benji its been hard enough trying to get the halfback to get the more ball more let alone a back rower to create some plays.

I also think that as much as he tries, his defense isnt strong enough on that edge. Between Miller and Lawrence, Anasta cant tighten that side up enough which is why we look pretty flimsy every time oppositions go there.

The only ball playing role i can see is maybe something like a roving fullback like Hodgo used to play for us in 2005 where he pops up in back line movements on the inside or outside of the center.

If you had both the fullback and a roving back rower (have to be lock then) doing this maybe we could confuse the bejesus out of the defense…. or ourselves..

If Moltzen stays the fullback this might work because his workrate in attack isnt that great. If we go with Teddy at some point this would be difficult because he is just everywhere in attack...

At worse though we have a solid back up in case of injuries down the line

last week I started a thread highlighting his unimpressive stats over the first 2 weeks , against parra I watched him carefully to try to find out way?

The problem is that Anasta has tethered himself to his edge , he does not go in field looking for the ball or work in general , which I think must change.

I agree. I also agree with MacDougall's comments.

right now he is going to have to accept running angles inside.
miller turns everything back inside, either passing or running himself.

he isn't a metre eater inside our half.add the fact he doesn't get any ball from his half and you have a player that looks useless.
one positive is that he has only missed 1 tackle since rd 1.

Anasta is still finding his way in the team. I noticed at the game a couple of times he wanted the ball in attacking positions and the ball went to Robbie. He naturally likes to run some plays but at the moment he looks lost. We have Robbie and Benji calling the shots and now Miller getting more involved in setting up plays. He is a great back up for the halves and during origin when Farah is first player picked. At the moment though he needs to play like a genuine 2nd rower and run some plays from broken play when the ball comes his way.

I noticed Anasta a lot more when he played for the Rorters at 5/8\. I wouldn't be surprised if someone asked me "Wait, didn't you guys buy Anasta?" Unless he shows us more in the backrow he is a wasted buy.

What was his point? To "warn us"?

For what purpose? I'm not writing off Anasta yet, but I want to see improvement thats for sure.

Another thing to remember is he is not on the same marquee coin and he is not our captain costing us penalties by yelling at refs.

He has a different role and isn't the drain on our club like he was at Roosters.

It appeared so

For what purpose? What did he want us to do after he educated all us NRL novices who apparently never watched him play before?

The guy wanted attention and he got it. If/when Anasta puts some form on the pitch, he won't be seen again.
