Anderson/2013/Perennial Inconsistency

I'm content with Sheens. I can see some valid points in a change of coaches but for me its too big a gamble. We have been a whisker away from the last 2 grandfinals. I really cant see what Sheens could have done better or how a different coach would have made a difference.

One thing I really like about Sheens was on show in the post match interviews after the doggies game, where he didn't want to harp on a referees decision that can't be changed. Alot of other coaches would be pulling doors off hinges, throwing gatorade bottles or coping fines for critising the refs. That behaviour runs down through the players and I can't stand whingers. He also said we had our chances with Robbies field goal attempt which also emphasises that the players are more to blame in most cases then the coach.

Yeh Hasler once ripped out a door in 2010\. The team was so put off they won a grand final the next year.

Throw the cheque book at Bellamy. Give him full support to kick out the deadwood & shake up the highly paid "stars" who have failed to handle pressure in the clutch do or die games, season after season. In Melbourne Bellamy is the boss, period…not Slater, not Cronk & not Smith. Bellamy is the man who calls the shots. The Tigers have three.

It's ancient history now but the Tigers have failed post Scott Prince who left years ago. Tigers should have made the GF in 2010 &/or 2011\. We are all frustrated, p***ed off. Humphreys over to you...

I think you'll find that the big 3 actually do run things down there. In fact they actually run alot of their training sessions with Bellamy a observer. No doubt he realises theres only so much he can do before its all up to the players.
Just tell me one thing that Sheens or another coach could have done differently to get us to the grandfinal the last 2 years.

I dont like excessive blaming of referees and alike, carrying on like a pork chop does nothing.

Giving your players (or yourself) excuses by blaming outside influences does not serve any purpose.

Us fans on the other hand, we are allowed to get upset and blow up at poor decisions and bad luck as much as we like!

Iam afraid no one can convince me Sheens has NOT passed his use by date at the Tigers and in my opinion it was a while ago. I think Anderson would do a good job but after being shafted a couple of times I get the feeling he would not be interested.

Anyway its not going to happen, the board the Ceo are all very happy with what Sheens is achieving or in my view under achieving. Two long years to go, I just wonder what might have happened, I mean if we had a average squad I could live with it, but we dont!!!!

But all will be good next year, Royce is back

2010 v Roosters in semi final Tigers _players_ self imploded in second half. Dumb play & lack of discipline forced Tigers into sudden death v Canberra & then form team Dragons to reach the GF… season over.
Sudden death game v NZ in 2011 Tigers fade badly, fail to diffuse a simple bomb & implode with ball in hand at end of the game... season over.
My point is Tigers cracked under pressure & surrendered strong leads 2 years in a row. Coach was unable to get team to hold onto a strong lead in the game that matters 2 years running.
Tigers seem to do the difficult things easily but struggle with the basic simple plays.

You justify dropping the coach with the mistakes of players :crazy

Our next coach is on a flogging to non… You cant cure cancer overnight and you will need to see a few doctors first before choosing a plan to move forward.

In saying this, I cant Sheens going anywhere... Nice dream though?!

sheens is not the only person involved in the running of the team. humphrey's has a huge input.
last year we were knocked out by a double movement by inu and the previous year by a knock on by ben creagh at the play the ball from which the steelers scored.
this year we have the amazing highlight of the shepherd.
amazing that hasler has the uncanny knack of fostering the shepherd(watch cherry evans) and all the teams in the final four are not dissimilar in that regard. it wins games especially tight ones.
sheens plays by the rules and that is meritorious.
and its nice to see blake ayshford playing good footy again.

These scenarios have very little to do with a Coach… Players implode in the heat of battle all the time. The only thing a coach can do to ensure these things dont repeat themselves is hook the players who continue to implode.

In your cases, thats Farah & Marshall... Do you support Sheens hooking both of them once we hit the lead in the Semis?

With Royce coming back next year it makes me think Sheens will be here regardless of where we finish

The coach does nothing about it, so someone must do something about the coach.

The coach allows the problems to continue, the coach is thus the problem.

Simple.

Unless youre happy with winning 5 out of every 10 continually
Unless youre happy with average
Plenty are it seems

My frustration & disappointment with the performances is that the team has not played, been encouraged or coached to play to anywhere near their potential. Losing is a fact of life & footy but over the last few seasons we have lost too many games to less talented teams. Tigers Farah, Benji & even Chris Lawrence are amongst the most naturally gifted players & still world class but under Sheens they haven't continued to improve over the years.
I want Robbie, Benji & co to have a chance to get a fresh approach from a new coach. As it stands 2005 will be the only glory for all concerned. And BTW the 2005 Tigers would clean up the current squad by 30 plus.
