Why is Brown being rewarded after his antics in the 20's mid season?

being dog shotted?
he carried on because he didnt get a chance to defend himself. it looked bad, but i think if you watch it closely a few times you'll see he was far from the worst involved in that hoo ha.

Still think that we will see benji and braith start in halves with brooks off the bench. Braith to move to forward rotation when brooks comes on.

Better sack Farah while we're at it… He's instigated a couple of fights in his time.

Can't wait. This has been highly anticipated. Hope Brooks lives up to all our hopes

too much pressure on him….if he "fails" I hope the fans don't get on his back.

So they will only be likely to play one game

Again ,I just don't see the benefits of a one off game

3/4 games hell yeah lets do it , but not for one

Too many risks to the NYC campaign if something goes wrong

All true, but what I think you haven't fully considered is the overbearing weight of expectation on Brooks and Moses, mostly Brooks over the offseason. I couldn't even begin to imagine training for months on end without a game while knowing thousands of supporter's, the club, coach, friends and family are waiting for 2014 to see you play. To get the debut over and done with, assuming he comes out unscathed and with a good performance, would be a massive burden lifted off of his shoulders.

Completely agree with the decision, depending on how he is used of course.

Agree entirely phyr3\. The pressure valve will release significantly as soon as the full time siren sounds. He will still have the pressure on him over the off-season and leading into next year, but at least he will know if he can match it with the big boys.

This could really help Benji I think. The Dragons game plan probably didnt totally focus on Benj due to his lack of impact recently. With Brooks gaining a run, you would presume they will focus on pressuring him and /or smashing him out of the game leaving Benji and the outside backs plenty of room to attack.

If the pigs can hold the middle and Brooks can provide clean service, my prediction has changed from a loss to a win through our back 5

**Special permission granted for talented pair**

Wests Tigers have been granted permission from the NRL for exciting youngsters Luke Brooks and Nathan Brown to possibly make their first grade debuts this weekend.

The Club yesterday wrote to NRL Salary Cap Auditor Ian Schubert asking for permission to breach the second tier salary cap by allowing the talented pair to play against St George-Illawarra Dragons at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday.

The decision as to whether Brooks and Brown will play will be made by Coach Mick Potter following the team’s final training session tomorrow.

The permission granted by Schubert was made under special circumstances given that neither team could make the NRL finals series.

This was a one-off application that will be assessed on a weekly basis subject to Wests Tigers upcoming matches in the final few rounds of the Telstra Premiership and whether the opposition teams can make the finals.

**The decision by Schubert to grant permission was based upon it being in the best interests of the game as a whole**.

Good on you Shoey ….. Sanity prevails.

And what happens if he has a shocker or even worse still get injured

I'm more concerned what effect this will have on the NYC sides momentum

And imagine having a bnad game and having to stew on it for the 6 months ,that will do far more harm than good for his career

At least if it happens Rd 1 he just has to get on with it 7 days later

Put it simply, it's a gamble.

And I think that Potter believes Brooks is ready for the physical aspect of NRL and is not likley to be injured badly and that he can at the very least, hold his own to put up a respectable performance. Perhaps even a good one.

Really, you've got two choices both with pros and cons which i'm sure potter has weighed up. From here, it doesn't seem likely he'll get injured nor have a shocker.

As for the NYC, whenever I talk about them outside of the forum….no one cares. I'm not gonna lie, we'd get an article or two for a premiership but making the 8 from a win or two (obviously unachievable for us, but in general) would get a lot more news, seats, sales, etc. etc. It's great and all, but only for the more die hard fans imo. In any case, he'll be back next week. It'd be the same as him playing NSW Cup this week in terms of physicality and momentum.

I think he'll start brooks off the bench. Anasta & Marshal will be the halves, you may see Anasta drop back into the forwards during rotation to make room for Brooks. Big call to expect this kid to come on and play from the get go. Depending on how he goes, he may only get 30 or so minutes.

Best of luck to both debutants. Just hope the expectations are not too high from the fans and forums. Cant't expect these kids to come out and win the game for us. Expect lots of errors from them or even somewhat quiet.

Brooks won't be back next week pHrY3 these guys can't play against sides that can make the 8

Probably rule him out of the last game as well

Cowboys are my smokies to make the 8
