Wests Tigers Statement

Wests Tigers would like to respond to reports of unfortunate crowd behaviour at Sunday’s game against the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium.

During the pre-game team announcement a small number of fans were booing Captain Aaron Woods

Wests Tigers find this behaviour incredibly disappointing and are calling on Members and fans to support all players in the team.

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe said he understood that some supporters were disappointed with recent news but called on them to continue to support all players.

“We love the passion that our Members and fans show week in, week out, but ask that this passion is directly at the players in a positive way,” said Pascoe. “Aaron is our Captain, a local junior and again showed tonight his character in his professionalism and dedication to his team mates.

“Our Captain Aaron Woods led from the front last night and I’d like to take this opportunity to commend him for his actions,” he said. “We’re proud of every member of the team tonight and are sure that our supporters feel the same way.”

Wests Tigers Chair Marina Go echoed Pascoe’s sentiments.

“I’d like to thank our Members and supporters for their ongoing support of our club during this time,” said Go. “At the same time I’d like to call on them to support all of our players, whether they are going to be with Wests Tigers beyond this year or not.

“Every player that pulls on the Wests Tigers jersey puts his all into every performance and they deserve the support of all Wests Tigers supporters,” she said. “I look forward to supporting all players again on Saturday night at Leichhardt Oval.

Whilst I wouldn't do it I respect everyone's right to do so if they please. I suspect there will be an even bigger response this coming weekend from the fans. These three only have themselves to blame, they have handled the situation very poorly indeed.

This is hilarious. I want all supporters to come out and boo these guys through the loudspeakers.

It's good that the Statement was typed.
Most of those infantile idiots yesterday, can't read running writing.

There is something fishy behind this statement….one can only speculate....Go to town.... :sign:

What do u think …?

Maybe "origin hard man" Aaron had a cry

Is this real? Can't see it on the website.

But if so, they have rocks in their heads. Cleary said it best when he said fans pay to watch the game and are entitled to say what they like.

I mean, what next, memos to encourage fans to cheer more loudly for the under-appreciated efforts of Matt McIlwrick?

Why would they bother with a statement like that?
Stop treating supporters like children, if they are intending on booing a player/s do you honestly think after reading that statement they'll change their mind.
We have a right to express ourselves any way we choose as long as it doesn't cause harm to others.

Please Grandpa Pascoe and Grandma Go treat Tigers supporters as adults and don't make ridiculous statements like this again.

I don't boo players myself (full disclosure: I occasionally audibly share my views on wife beaters, but not by booing). But I'm not sure what business it is of the club's to tell fans how they should and shouldn't react to a deeply disappointing set of events. I thought Cleary had this one right: fans will do what they do.

Personally I thought it would be good if the three departees were greeted with complete silence. As in: you're doing your job because you're a professional and no other reason, and I don't cheer or boo my plumber.

LOL it would hilarious if Woods and tedesco didn't sign with other clubs and they had signed with us. 100% of that not happening but could you imagine how bad the fans would feel if it was that way??

I mean come on people Woods would have said he was staying and not let that booing happen if he really was.

Thanks NRL, for allow this stuff to happen

ohh yeah he is our captain and local junior we.l…. for about another 17 games anyway

We also need to remember the weststigers shop is open for trade (New Signings). Perhaps a bit of positive window dressing not to scare off prospective shoppers.

I'll do what I want and boo disloyal players when I please.

WT are kidding themselves if they expect fans to be all cheery

This ticket just doesn't give me the right to go to the game , it gives me the right to make an ass out of myself ..
