I don't boo players myself (full disclosure: I occasionally audibly share my views on wife beaters, but not by booing). But I'm not sure what business it is of the club's to tell fans how they should and shouldn't react to a deeply disappointing set of events. I thought Cleary had this one right: fans will do what they do.
Personally I thought it would be good if the three departees were greeted with complete silence. As in: you're doing your job because you're a professional and no other reason, and I don't cheer or boo my plumber.
I also don't boo my own players but I do believe in free speech so whatever way others want to express how they are feeling is okay by me.
Now call me crazy but based on what I read this morning, Aaron and James saying that they have not yet signed anywhere else, I think the club may still be hoping that they will sign with us!
Or maybe that is just my love for the club talking.
