Id like to try and get rid of what i think are dandelion broadleaf weeds in our yards.
Ive tried digging them out but it just seems to leave big plain dirt patches.
I dont wanna bust a gut doing this.. im hoping theres some spray or something i can water on it that wont kill the little grass thats left

Selective weed killer is what ya looking for. Amgrow Bin-die is what I usually use but any will do.
Now is a good time to get the bindis too, before they become bindis.

Thnx bf that amgrow has been discontinued in aus.
Can you tell me what the grass is?

Ink, there may be other products that have the same active constituent as amgrow. Google amgrow and find out what its active constituent is, then google that for other products. There are bound to be a few, especially if it was a successful weed killer. Otherwise find the nearest rural store and ring them for a chat.

I have a lawn mowing business, I use expensive spray but if u only have a small lawn just use weed and feed , get it at Bunnings, for best results wait till spring , good luck . If u have any other questions just ask

Hi innsaneink
I love my lawn, I'm a fussy bastard with my lawn I have buffalo but it doesn't matter what you have, for weeds or bindies I go to Bunnings and get Yates weed killer, when I spray I'll spray again a week later maybe do it a few times never a problem, I've watched lawn/garden experts and they mention when you mow your lawn DON'T MOW ON A LOW LEVEL, put the mower level to the highest level or 1 down 2nd highest level, if you mow on low level when the grass grows it will grow bindies and weeds, never had a problem since mowing lawn higher level.

Hey Ink, I run a landscape maintenance business and do a fair bit of residential and commercial spraying.

These are just broadleaf weeds. Get yourself a product called Bow and Arrow. You can purchase it from Lawn Addicts or a bunch of other online stores.

It’s around $50 from memory but will last you years. It’ll knock out about 95% of existing broadleaf weeds in the lawn and safe on most turf varieties (just not blue couch from memory).

It won’t touch annual grass weeds like winter grass, paspalum, nutgrass, crowsfoot or things like that though.

Bow and Arrow is the most common name for residential purchasers, although it can also be sold as Javelin or Spearhead. It’s the same active ingredient.

Follow the label and it’s simple enough to do. 50ml per 100m2 with 2-5l of water.

It’s a selective herbicide, so it only targets the existing weeds down to the root, it doesn’t target non-germinated weeds. So you might notice some weeds coming back from the seeds especially if there’s some bare patches.

This time of years a bad time to get growth repair but a good granular fertiliser (something like 2 Spec Elevate or ICL fertilisers) will help. For a faster response for repair, aerate the surrounding soil, and hit it with a liquid fertiliser as it’s instantly taken up by the turf. Although you’re probably not going to get any major results until Spring/Summer.

Stay away from the Bunnings rubbish like weed n feed. It’s diluted junk, very hit and miss and the fertiliser aspect of it can actually encourage more weed growth. If you have to use a Bunnings option, go with Bin-Die over anything else.

Hit me up if you need any help mate.

1 zillion percent correct on mow level.
