Any young centres coming through our ranks?

We seem to have so many young forwards coming through the ranks and playing NRL but we don't seem to have many young backs coming through.

It would be nice with Lawrence's injury that he was replaced by a young gun centre not Moltzen.

Do we have any young centres coming through the grades for the future or instead of signing Adam Blair maybe we should be looking at another top centre.

I still think Asyhford would make a perfect utility on the bench as he covers backs and forwards.

Any one's thoughts?

Tim Simona is a wonderful talent but will most likely end up on the wing IMO.

Clarke and Wisbey are both progressing.

Lawrence was one out of the box and it is rare to have a young centre with his size, power and poise so I would think all of the NYC boys are a few years off yet

My concern is, class backs usually dont last long in the u20 comp and make a rapid entry into the NRL, they dont seen to do a few years at u20 level, than maybe one year in state league. So I get the feeling the club dosnt have any big raps on any of our young centres. Maybe Iam wrong but with our injury toll this year you would have thought Sheens would have played one of the u20 kids if he thought they were good enough.

Dudes,

Ayshford And Lawrence are still in their very early 20's..

Nothing wrong with Lawrence and Ayshford . Expect Clarke to make the step up next season as back up Imagine Daniela will be let go

Jake Clarke is doing fantastic things at centre for BRET. He has really taken the next level like a duck to water and has fast become a favourite amongst the supporters.
Matt Ryan IMHO is probably not so far away from 1st grade. His form has been absolutely fantastic and consistent for nearly two seasons. Shoulder injuries has been his biggest enemy and hope he can sort those out. I expect BIG things from Red.

But for the interim….

Wests have Ben Jeffery back from the Titans.
Beau Ryan is an absolute gun centre, but for some unknown reason, Sheens refuses to play him in his most suited position ever since he started him in 1sts.

But this one is just for your ears.....

Sheens is currently making a play to get Keith Eshman back playing with us. After he threw his footy career away, he could be finally looking to make a comeback. Fingers crossed. A true talent who never realised his potential.

Eshman??? the matt king look a like–I thought he joined the army. Not many ever come back after a extended break from the game

We should sign Siuatonga Likiliki from the Newcastle Knights, last year under 20's premiership winner with NZ Warriors.

Hasn't played for the knights yet I don't think and with Tahu being signed, may not for some time.
He's massive and has all the talent, being wasted here.

Likiliki wont be let go….

There are lots of youngsters that are still waiting to get their crack at FG.

We have ours as well.

That's him. Debuted under Sheens a few years back as a young player along with the likes of Ayshford and Lawrence.
Highly regarded by Sheens as a player who recently played in a curtain raiser match before the All Stars match up in Gold Coast a few months ago.
Just currently seeking a release from the Army. So it's up to them if he comes home to Tigers. 😛ray:

Matt Evans is still very much a youngster but he'll be one to watch over the next few years IMO. Tim Simona as Smeg mentioned is pretty slick and positions himself well. And David Nofaluma will be another one to look out for in a few years.

Eshman is one of the most gifted footballers i've played against or with. I played with both Dean collis, beau scott, against ashton sims, ben roberts, keith galloway. Eshman had more talent than all of them, though i'm sure a lot of you don't rate those players they are all playing NRL which is more than can be said for me or yourselves. If he came back and some size could be added he is an NRL prospect. I wouldn't hold my breath though, as it could be a long shot.

I would try Curtis Sironen at centre. He is tall and skillful. He is the best option at #6 for the 20's but for mine he could be a top centre at NRL level when his body fills out a bit more, he has all the skills.

He'll likely end up a ball playing lock when he fills out.

I agree he may end up at lock. I was just thinking centre may be an option in the shorter term as we have a lot of good backrowers and not many good centres.

Smeg ive watched Simona a bit now and he powers on to the ball but in the 3 or 4 games ive seen he seems like a greedy guts, what do you reckon?
