ANZ??

With the size of todays crowd at ANZ, granted both teams in-form, I believe the sooner we have one home ground the better. That ground I believe is ANZ for games against Sydney clubs at least. It just makes sense.

As much as i hate to say it you may be right!!!! Maybe the suburban grounds for the out of towner games. This will start the usual shit fight but it may be the way to ensure LO and CSS stay in the mix.

Today was amazing. Unbelievable crowd The easter show a massive factor and the fact it was on a public holiday. I have no doubt the NRL will pencil this game in for the next few years.

I love Leichhardt, however for the big games, there is no doubt we have to play them an ANZ. The atmosphere was sensational tonight.

I don't usually like ANZ, because it's pretty dull with 15,000 people. Tonight went off, but from what I could see it was mostly Parra fans. All blue and gold in the stands and on the train.

Don't think we're ready to play all our home games at ANZ just because we got a good crowd playing another in form local club. We need to choose the venues according to the expected crowd. If it's going to get less than 20,000 then we take it to Leichardt (or Campbelltown if we can actually sell some tickets). Otherwise it's just rows of empty blue seats and crickets chirping.

We bought two family tickets for $40 with last week's special. That's 12 tickets. If they keep offering specials like that you'll get 20,000+ to every game. Can't make deals like that at the suburban grounds

Definitely the future I love ANZ the facilities are first class parking is easy , as well as the Public transport.

The sooner the better. We need to do it while the team is going well.
The dogs worked it out about 14 years ago and we are just starting to thnk about it now.

It's the future. Games against the big Sydney teams (Parra, Dogs, Souths, Saints) will always be there. so long as the ANZ deal is around.

Gees if it's that easy lets move the LO game there next weekend. It's a no brainer. There were about 35k eels fans there today. The parra army come out of the woodwork when they win a few.

Totally agree. I said it a couple of years ago. I would much rather be trying to fill an 80,000 capacity stadium than a 20,000 suburban ground. Big stadiums are the answer if we want to grow the game.

That's the point of why those games should be always at ANZ. Because the cost and location is conducive to encouraging fans of both sides to attend. Reciprocated membership agreements further this.

Games against Titans, Cows, Raiders, Storm etc don't have large supporter bases in Sydney so of course ANZ has no crowd benefits (although from what we hear financially it would?).

Exactly right Demon

If people know there are good packages available, parking and they're guranteed a seat….they will go

You wont have all the elements that yesterday provided, easter show on next door, great weather, good time slot, public holiday, two local teams...that all contributed.

Those that still queue in a bank with their passbook and havent progressed to mobile phone technology yet, need to get into the 21st century quicksmart

Go to 6 - 3 - 3 and I think the right balance is there for the next three years and then re-assess

Kudos on the Level 4 members terrace idea though. Decent view, never any big lines for the bar or food and clean facilities with an air conditioned area with TV's for when that afternoon sun was really belting in.

Great concept

The game yesterday really was a perfect storm for maximising the crowd:
1\. Two Sydney teams in form - tick
2\. Free public transport - tick
3\. Perfect weather - tick
4\. Easter Show crowds next door - tick

I'd love to see 50k crowds every week. Unfortunately, that is not going to happen any time soon.

I took a mate to his first ever live game of nrl. He is hooked after yesterday. But, I did have to explain it's not always that sort of atmosphere at ANZ. We had plenty of time to chat about it in the queue for a train from Platform 4 at Olympic Park. That was an experience in itself…lol. There's no doubt Parra had more supporters there but it was their home game and I think they have 20000 members(?) ...more than double ours. There was a vocal and sizeable mob of WT fans as well though, and we did our best to add to the noise. Well done all!!!

The AFL has always been run better than the NRL and they worked out twenty years ago that central stadiums is the way to go. There is a bit of pain for some in that fans miss the history and feel of the suburban grounds but the upside is massive.

AFL games in Melbourne now have significant numbers of neutrals in the crowds.

The above being said, its about picking the right games. The NRL seems to finally be catching on to the importance of scheduling.
