Are we satisfied?

I don't know how many of you followed the world cup, but I'm going to assume most know what I'm talking about here.

I feel as if we are the Dutch of this competition. Not playing great, in fact most of our games are fairly dull. We do what we have to to win, which is getting us the correct results.

But we're not satisfied with the team's performance, always nervous about the next game even though we are in the top quarter of the ladder. I guess the question is, would we prefer to be playing our hearts out and losing, or playing like absolute crap and winning?

I've just always imagined us being in the top 4 (and now with the Dragons losing and their draw) or winning the minor premiership as something I'd be stoked about.

But I'm…..not. Weird. Anyone else feel this way?

There is a lot of work still ahead of the team and the coach.
I happly take the 2 points each week but must admit most have been lucky. especially against the Sharks, felt sorry for them at the end as the refs really screwed them up.
Having said that what i see missing with the team is the desire to really go for the minor premiership .That money would really mean a lot to a poor club like the tigers. We LET manly beat us , we should have rolled them.and we nearly let sharks make us look silly.
There appears to be hardly any urgency in defence especially under high balls and every man and his dog is kicking in the air against us. It appears the team is not watching the video footage of game they just played as they make the same mistakes the very next game. Most of all i have noticed the whole team doesnt fire up at the same time .Some games some players are hot while in another others are.

Its funny three of the top four teams are playing like wooden spooners. I have been out to every Sydney based game this year and I think we have gone backwards from 2009 and I really think without Farah or marshall doing the impossible we could embarrass ourself come the semi finals. Whats even more of a worry unlike years in the past I dont see too many super stars coming out of the minor grades for next year.

I think Sheens had his chance to react to our poor form mid season with some changes but now its too late

Satisfied with our position.

But hollow with how we have played to get there.

If we win the comp and there is a highlights 2010 dvd I'm not sure if I'd buy it. (Probably still would :wink🙂

I've always been of the opinion is that you play what's infront of you. If the other team turns up then it will always be a tight contenst. Teams know and perhaps even fear the attacking potential of the Tigers, hence take the field with much more resolve than they would against other sides that are less threatening. Wests have won games in 2010, be it ugly, that they would have certainly lost or thrown away in the years gone by. I attribute that to experience as well as a change in the playing roster, cutting some of the dead wood if you like that perhaps contributed to the last few disappointing seasons. A week is a very long time in Rugby League, 5 weeks is an eternity. Anything can happen. Wests are Top 4\. I think all Tigers fans will be satisfied if they can remain in that 4\. Personally, anything less than 5th would be disappointing and I believe if that happens than Wests are just making up the numbers.

yeah like the others here, happy with our position certainly, not real happy with the overall performance of the side. Things are different to previous years, winning these close ugly games, which is a good thing. Just wish it wasn't heart attack material all the time .

I guess it's good knowing the side can improve, which is better than knowing we've been playing out of our skins to be in our current position.

i think at the moment were just going to be making up the numbers in the finals.
we've played pretty bad but won (which is good) but we really should of seen them dust the sharks… atm i am very nervous about finals, hoping we hit our straps soon!

To start with 1 more win and its our first winning season in 5\. It will be our second winning season overall and our second finals appearance overall. So that makes it a better season then the other 8 because it is about winning and getting results, not about pretty performances. They deserve credit if they finish high up the table, no matter how it achieved. Even though there are no great sides in the comp its still a big grind the NRL, and you got to have some determination and effort to finish in the top half. 3 more wins from 5 and we can have 15 wins from 24, a great return.

I keep thinking for the past 2 months thye might click this week and start to show we are serious contenders. However it has not happened. Were playing pretty average and dissapointing football with the talent at our disposal. However it is a funny comp. I watched the Dragons, a team that coming 1st play disgracefully inept football today. Watched Penrith plod around the field looking clueless against the Cows.

Sometimes you just have to get over the mental hurdle before you can click through the gears. 4 seasons in a row alot of these players would of had the scars of missing the finals. Maybe once we get there we can play without fear and real show our talents. We have more room for improvements then most sides.

At present we are I think 8th best team on for and against, and 7th in the market for the premiership. That is probably an indication of how we are playing. The next 5 weeks will be interesting, because with a tough run in, surely we will have to up our game to collect more wins. These sorts of average efforts can't keep getting you over the line.

let me ask you all in Feb this year if I told you that in August we would be in the top 4 would you be happy??

if that game last night was the grand final or a semi final game would we everyone be NOT happy with the win?

It wasnt a GF so that makes no difference.

Im glad were where were at, Im not happy on how were playing to get there, Im mystified tbh

Glad & happy…two different things.

The players and coaches arent totally happy, that tells me lots...but yeh it could be lots worse

Is someone else using Goldens name to post for the past two days? Has his account been hacked?

I'm not satisfied, quite perplexed at our play to be honest. It seems most teams are struggling this year. We are still in the top 4 though so you cant be too upset but geeze we are running out of time to get our stuff together….5 hard games in a row coming up.

I said pre-season I don't care so much how we play, but we need to break the cycle of missing the finals. I'd rather win ugly than lose pretty.

if you have to defend alot, it will sap your energy for the natural free flowing attack .
would be nice to see them hit the front, in a game, and all of a sudden " click" and go on with scoring more points.
like in the warriors game.

The semi finals are now only six weeks away. In years gone past the the teams that were to challenge for the title had already started to lift the bar. On what I have seen in the past few weeks is lack of real intensity and passion. Maybe its the grind of a long season but I think our form is slipping week by week as we approach the final series.

On a positive note bar Manly and the Chooks no team is actually playing well So if we get a top four finish we may be in with a chance of actually causing some damage. We have to many good players to be playing so poorly, Sheens needs to pick a team ( his best team) forget about any personality issues and stick with them.

On what I have seen and especially over the past month Iam not confident of any fairy tale finish in 2010 but one things for certain the tigers can suprise you
