Dear writer, it's all about getting the right balance - something this team hasn't had for a very long time. Spending all our cap to sign one superstar half, while leaving all the other positions weak won't get us anywhere. I'm pretty sure we've tried this before :wink: Who would we have with speed to run off him? And how could he work his magic behind a pack that is being dominated all the time? No, sorry mate, but I trust Cleary's judgment on this one not yours.
And just as an aside, why do all the people, who write about us, insist on calling us the 'black and gold' all the time? It's in just about every story written about us! I don't see them ever calling other teams by their colours, except for perhaps the 'tri-colours' referring to the Roosters occasionally. If they insist on putting it in then at least get it right - it's black, white and gold!

We have brought more NRL experience into the 2018 sqaud than we have ever done…4 definite starters with their current club or any Club...The others are a mix of solid and potential like all Clubs...

I like the signings we've made so far. I reckon our forwards and backline looks a lot better than what we have this year. Yes we need another signing or two especially in the forwards however so far it's been great.
We won't know how successful this recruitment has been until a fair way into next season however I thought we looked good this year and we've imploded on the back of poor inconsistent and disinterested players.

At least the money is spread across the squad, and most importantly there'll be depth. We've already got excess backs now who can perform in FG with the new signings, so if they don't aim up it won't be through lack of trying. We're also picking up players in their prime now, the likes of Packer, Matulino and Reynolds are all experienced players but not in the twilight of their career.
We could do what we've always done, pay stupid overs for two or three "star" players and then expect kids and no-namers to lift around them or we can sign seasoned players across the board who can share the burden.
The jury is out until 2018 rolls around and the results book starts filling up.

IMO we havent really signed too many word beaters this recruitment drive, but we have signed players that will make us a far better prospect all across the park. The other option was to throw massive money at Moses, Teddy & Woods and put a bunch of reserve graders around them and we all know how thats turned out. Sure id love a marquee player or two but Cleary has already stated he wants a team not a so called big 3 or 4 im happy with the way things have gone decent first graders Packer,Matulino,Reynolds ect and some prospects like Milne and Fonua.
I read this article on ZT and thought to myself, what is this garbage.
Matulino is top 10 props and Packer is really proving himself.
Reynolds is an origin winner and played in a grand final, great talent.
MWZ, Thompson, Fonua, Gamble - all great depth signings that will really benefit us.
Milne is a potential game breaker looking for a start, he'll prove to be a really handy pick up for us.
Twal is potentially another Aloiai, out of nowhere - under rated, star signing.
All the pieces are falling together for us, our recruitment is outstanding.
The ins list really outshines the outs list.
