Wake up and head online this morning to see you’ve got him...
Talk about thinking alike, my money’s on you
Haha classic mate! He was a great player to watch, effortless?
I have a David Peachey story, Im not sure if Ive told here...not sure of this is the best place to tell it
They're always good to hear. Pm or DM or whatever it's called if you want to share it, not sure how to do either though TBH. 35° over here, a fair few bourbons into the day?
Bugger it....here is as good a place as any.
I used to be in a Covers Band. In 2006 we had a gig in Lithgow. Was a VERY weird gig. First time we played in this particular pub and we played the first set and it was DEAD. Horrible gig, maybe 4 people in the crowd. At the end of the first set the manager comes up to us and says, "Dont feel bad, its not you guys. The two pubs either side are warring bikies pubs and there has been a lot of violence in our pub becuase of it. In fact would you mind stopping at 11:30 because the pub next door shuts at 12 and we dont want them in here".
Just before we are due to stop, a wedding party of about 100 comes in and starts partying and all of a sudden the gig is rocking and the manager asks us to play until 2am instead. We are happy to.
Anyway at the end of the second set, the manager comes over and says, "I want to introduce you to a mate of mine, he is here to watch the local group Grand Finals". We go over to their table and his mate is David Peachey and he is BLIND, could hardly talk. Still a nice guy, behaved himself, no problems but maggoted.
The Peach stays at the same table all night, drinking and at 2am, we finish playing, we say goodnight to the Peach and the manager literally has to help him to the taxi.
I have to stress, he was a gentleman, just a very drunk gentleman. I didnt really think anything of it because he had been out injured long term.
We sleep in the pub (drinking whatever we want...there is another whole story in that) and the next morning I get up with a bad hang over, jump in my car, drive from Lithgow to Leichhardt picking up my dad on the way to watch Tigers V Souffs. I grab the Big League and I was shocked to see 1. Peachey, D. on the programme. I tell my Dad there is no way Peachey is playing.
Peachey ran out on the field and the Tigers won 52 - 18. The Peach was probably the best on field for the Rabbits that day.
That's legendary mate. Good on the Peach, nothing wrong with being blind but upsetting nobody. He definitely had some class especially footy-wise.
Awesome..but it's your pick..lol
Sorry!
