I don't think Watson is in the countrys top 6 batsman so I wouldn't bat him at 5 when Hussey goes. He is deffinately not a test opener though is doing a good job.

Ferguson and Voges I think are the next 2 in line for a test promotion in regards to batting.

Agree, Voges has never really done well at Shield level. Ferguson hasnt either but I think he turned the corner last season and his best years are still in front of him. Voges is already around 30-31?

Hodge and D Hussey would be around the mark to but they are getting on in age now so they may have missed the boat, especially as Hussey hasnt done well at One Day level.

Did North really dominate at state level? I can't remember.
I only say Voges cause he has played in the ODI side and I can't think of too many middle order blokes putting their hand-up.

you watch we will have you, we are putting you in a false position.

Nice Try…Poms have a strategy? Once again.......

peterson wont play he is out for the ashes now, not sure about flintoff but im sure they might risk him.
we always have a plan

a draw will see us keep the ashes. we should just pick 11 of our best batsmen. forget the bowlers. there is no way england would have enough time to get us out twice

That article about Shane Watson is spot on. No lies, just fact.

The way he talks himself up, then shot down Brett Lee a week later was a sickening new low for a guy whose stooped to levels not seen in a team sport.

But he knows whose arse to kiss, and he does it well.

The ashes seem to be slipping… Cardiff may really come back to bite us now!

Yep.

The fact Hilfenhaus, Siddle or Johnson couldn't get Monty Panesar out is a disgrace.

But they're our "future" apparently. And if thats the case, anyone else wanna join me and live in the past?

A discrace Hauritz wasn't picked in this test. Will bite us back bad. When will selectors learn specialist spinners can win you matches while part-timers will rarely do that.

Hussey will be lucky to play again.

I think what was more of a disgrace was that he used the spinners to try to get him out, he's a tailender, of course he'll prefer the spinners over the quicks!!

Yep totally agree, how did they get the idea that this pitch wont favour the spinners? We need a spinner no matter what imo, and Hauritz hasnt done a thing wrong in any match he has played since he came back into the team. Im sick of this "horses for courses" policy for the bowlers because not only does it hurt the development of bowlers (they dont get to bowl in different conditions), but if the selectors get it wrong, we're in big trouble!

Hussey needs to go, I dont know who should replace him but I would go with either his brother David or Ferguson.

David Hussey in the short form but deffinately not the test team. Either a straight swap for Ferguson or Watson to 4 and Hughes opening where he should already be.

Id almost be tempted to change the batting line up right around.

1\. Hughes
2\. Katich
3\. Clarke
4\. North
5\. Ponting
6\. Haddin
7\. Watson

Clarke is the future captain and needs to take on more responsibility, he is our best batsmen at the moment, he's got a good technique and he can attack or defend, he's also batted at 3 for NSW on a few ocassions. Ponting can move down the order to number 5 or 6 like Border did later in his career, because he is getting on in years and is not quite the player he was, he seems to have concentration lapses and his footwork is starting to slow up imo. It could also ease the pressure on him because he doesnt have to worry about captaining the side and then coming in early to bat.

That line-up probably wont happen but I wouldnt mind seeing it happen. I would pick Ferguson over D Hussey as well if they dropped M Hussey and keep Watson as opener though.
