Attack inside opposition 20.

We have improved our attack in the middle of the field definitely, but our attack inside the opposition 20 would be close to the worst in the comp. We do not look like scoring at all.

Why is it all in slow motion? Why is there no players running lines? Why is KPP not running a hard unders line with a sweeping 5/8 or Bula out the back?

It was the same vs Parra and Souths, where we had enough ball to win both those games by 20. We are not even firing shots.

And Yes, I am happy we have improved in other areas, but this area has been hidden by our W-L record.

Our halves aren't good and our shape is bad without Madden.

You saw more space created as soon as Latu came on. Yeah we didnt light up, but you can see the immediate change having someone like him on. Our attack cant grow when you have a 7 that is the worst ball player in the comp and a 6 that refuses to play through the line, or struggles to play through the line with a halves partner who is so poor at his job. This sounds like an attack on Douehi, but believe me I rate him as a player, and he shows that every week with some very good moments. However as a 7, he is destroying this team. Latu is without doubt our best option at 7, but needs time to get himself sorted. Jock needs to be there in the short term while Latu continues to work on things coming off the bench. AD to centre.

Once Benji settles on this, the attack will gradually grow. It will not grow one bit with AD at 7, that im certain of.

I think the fix is easy. Someone need to straighten the attack and be in charge of the shape.

For Benji, it's about juggling egos and expectations.

Luai was poor in this respect last year too.

I still think it's a good problem to have as all our halves are fit. Just need to find the right balance.

Madden has to be 7 though.

I totally agree

I noticed that immediately too with Latu at 7. It makes such a difference having someone able to spread it from first receiver, especially when they can dig into the line and do it (something both Latu and Madden excel at).

Neither Luai or Doueihi do this. Both are at their best 2 wide, and arguably 3 wide of the ruck. Most of Luai's best at Penrith came playing 3 wide off Yeo and then Cleary (with Crichton and Kikau either side of him). Doueihi is a ball runner who can offload and throw a cut out here and there. Not a consistent player when it comes to setting up his outside men as a ball player.

If we want to insist with Doueihi and Luai in the halves, we need either one of them to be an actual 7 and structure our attack, or have a ball-playing 13. We're going nowhere if these two play their normal style and we've got Twal at 13.

Before you slit your wrists just realise we could have won every game this season.

This is a different tigers team.
So true, anyone would think a F meteor was about to hit Concord.

Taylan and Luai needed the run from lay off's, the first half showed with all that ball we need Madden in the 7, probably would of made the difference.

Adam if fit to centre next week he's dangerous out in that channel.

Latu needs to play half in NSW cup to truly learn the position.

I hear you that he straightens the attack but there is a lot more to the half role that he hasn’t yet demonstrated.

Agree on AD. One of my favourite players. Seems like a wonderful guy, but not a halfback.

Jock also organises the attack. You can see an attacking move coming a mile ahead with Jock as he has everyone all lined up. Last week he constantly had three runners run against the grain on ONE MOVE. They then had all three inside options, and more space for outside backs who didnt have cover defence spamming them.

Luai crabs and jinks to get away from the cover that is already there when he receives. AD just runs first and creates from the run.

This works against a retreating defence…

I don't think it's been hidden at all. Maybe to the commentators and journos, who consistently talk us up, but not most of us. We've worn teams down with our control with the ball and defense but haven't been winning with fluent attack. It was better and improving with Madden, but was still an issue. Put Madden back in and persist with it.
