Axl Rose tipped as new AC/DC frontman

Interesting fact about AC/DC. Their original drummer played in a God awful band who were halftime entertainment at Ctown 2 yrs ago. Quite the contrast.

Does Axl still wear the white bike shorts? They should not be allowed anywhere near an AC/DC gig.

I dunno….it would be worth it just to see him get dragged into the crowd and beaten for wearing them.
A bloke with a chicks voice like Axl shouldn't be getting a gig with AC/DC, let a man have a go. Hetfield :master:

Didn't know the gunners were getting back together. I thought most of the band members hated axl?

Saw acdc about 10-15 years ago with the living end backing up, great gig! They did well to go on for so long after Bon died. Doesn't work for every band, just look at inxs (who are one of my favourites)

I've always thought INXS with Jon Stevens sounded good. Pity it didn't work out.

Yep wish they had've given him more of a go. I was lucky enough to see them twice with MH, unreal!! Saw them again by chance in Dublin with jd fortune. The music was still superb but he was like a covers band singer.

Axl Rose will take over for Brian Johnson as AC/DC‘s frontman, the band’s rep confirms.

“AC/DC band members would like to thank Brian Johnson for his contributions and dedication to the band throughout the years,” the group said in a statement. “We wish him all the best with his hearing issues and future ventures. As much as we want this tour to end as it started, we understand, respect and support Brian’s decision to stop touring and save his hearing. We are dedicated to fulfilling the remainder of our touring commitments to everyone that has supported us over the years, and are fortunate that Axl Rose has kindly offered his support to help us fulfill this commitment.”

AC/DC’s European stadium tour dates begin on May 7 in Lisbon, Portugal and run through June 12 in Aarhus, Denmark. Following that, Axl Rose will head out on his Guns N’ Roses, “Not In This Lifetime …” Summer Stadium Tour. AC/DC’s 10 earlier postponed summer dates will also be rescheduled with Rose as frontman.

Pretty heartless Angus. This guy saved your band and without him you wouldn't have made the no 1 selling record of all time, and the thanks he gets is a blurb written by a publicist. Johnson must be absolutely filthy.

I'm not so sure. You could be right but I'm sure there's been a lot internal thank-yous, well wishes and celebrations of Brian's achievements with the band.
There could be more to come in terms of a tribute.

At the end of the day they're a rock band and they're gonna carry on playing rock music.

Actually it has nothing to do with Angus it's based on medical advise as he is going deaf from the sheer volume of the band, IMO the band should just pack it in after a farewell tour, I was only watching No Bull from Madrid a couple of days ago thinking how much greater the band could have been had Bon lived longer, no Axl for me.

The decision to continue on is on Angus.

And the volume of the band has nothing to do with him going deaf. He races cars in his downtime and forget to put ear plugs in before a race and punctured an ear drum.

AC/DC wrote Thriller? Pretty sure that is the biggest ever selling album.
They are 20 years or more past their best, they should have all packed it in along with Johnson IMO.Can see why they decided to continue though, they'd still be raking in the cash.

They've done well to make money off the same sound since the 70's. Many bands and artists with that longevity have had to reinvent themselves several times to stay relevant.

They've been long overdue to pack it in, should have given it away after Malcolm pulled up stumps.

As far as Axl goes, he'll lend himself well to AC/DC songs. Already does good versions of Whole Lotta Rosie and Riff Raff. His voice is not to dissimilar from Johnson's these days.

Thriller or Back in Black that is the question.

I think they are 1 and 2 respectively. Back In Black is the highest selling by a band.
