Ayshford's future?

Emergence of a rumour that Ayshford has asked Tigers for a release to join Souths in 2013\. Tigers management yet to give an answer.

Source is from Bunnies fans who reckon they have inside knowledge from Isaac Moses relative, apparently he has a good track record of breaking these moves too.

Make of that what you will.

2012 Round 24 vs the Dogs, Ayshford takes an outside pass from Marshall, hits the line and turns the ball back inside to Marshall who scores. Very good ball that set up the tight finish where the Dogs had to get a try from a blatant obstruction in order to get to Golden Point. (No, I will never get over this…)

Ayshford still has potential IMO and is worth hanging on to.

So one good play and we should keep him forever?

If we can build some cap space for genuine pace out wide then I'm happy to say goodbye to Blake.

Do they need a utility/fullback too? Package deal!!

I'll be looking for this thread next season

Go for it. I debated if it was worthy of posting it here, but figured if I was honest about the source people could make up their own minds. Its the off season after all.

I hope we hold onto him, but not sure where his future is with the Tigers. He passes as a centre, but I would find it hard to fit him into the forwards with Anasta, Fulton, Thompson and possibly Sironen all being light weight back rowers.

I Know we have Simona and the likes coming through but would Moltzen possibly make a better centre then Ayshford?

Impossible.

Irrespective, Ayshford will be very hard pressed to hold his 1st grade centre position this year. Strong aspirants for that positions include, Simona, Nukuloama, Sironen and Moltzen.

Highly unlikely.

Remember that sweet try Reddy scored after taking a huge bomb? Yeah that was awesome. He should be the Australian centre because of that. How bout that awesome try Fitzhenry scored after picking it up from dummy half in our own half and running through an entire side? Surprised he isn't an immortal.

Haha…..how do you know he's referring to your post?
He may well be.....he may be referring to those saying he's got nothing, he may be referring to those who say he wasnt alone in being poor in '12 and still will come good as weve seen from him before

People have short memories, if our forwards go forward and our halves get time and room....our backs, all of them should improve....too many dont understand the fundamentals of the game. :unamused:

Reality check..
-he's had one bad year,2012,but so did most of the team
-he's got a new coach next year who mite actually be able to develop his skills
-we are desperately short of proven first grade outside backs,.with Ryan & Lote gone(hopefully),& Simona/Reddy/Moltzen all far from being established as centres,we need him in 2013.
-why give souths a break
In short, give him another year & see what he's got,& then make a decision on his future at WT

Just adding a 2012 example to Underdog's list of 'Ayshford Highlights'. Like I said, I'd rather keep him. Neither he nor Lawrence got the ball in space the whole season.

And if Reddy played for Manly, that would have been enough to get him in the Australian side!

We have all seen what Blake is capable of. Fact of the matter is that you have a squad of 25 and you can't have an international or origin star in every jersey. Yes he was bad in 2012, but so were half the squad.

It's a new year, there's a new coach and he'll have had the off season to get over the wrist and back complaints. I'm looking forward to seeing what Potter can get out of him.
