Backrow debacle

I can see this one too. It allows Jock to stay at 7 for the short term
Ideally Adam deserves to go straight back to seven but the way he was playing pre-injury, I think he’d be a handy edge forward both running and tackling.

Jock has also been serviceable and kicks goals well so it fills two needs. I doubt it happens but the cupboard is pretty bare.

Interested to hear people thoughts on how we manage the next couple of months with no Sam and KPP.

Honestly I have no idea what Benji should do, however I have a left field ideas that most will shoot down but worth the chat anyway.

Sione will stay left backrow for the time being. So that leaves right side. Sukkar will be an NRL player in the future but im not confident we will win the appropriate amount of games to stay in touch with him starting regularly right now. So it got me thinking, is there anyone in the squad who you could pull for your you know what to do a job.... I have always believed physically strong centres make the best backrowers....

so the idea is.....
Herbert plays backrow with Sukkar off the bench. Now I know that is really left field, but i can picture Herbert really taking that challenge on
Could He provide that mobility and aggression we need there for a short period? Small but powerful runner and defender. Dene Halatau like.

Tell me why its a bad idea
Feels like back to the future…
Crappy back rowers is not a new thing at Wests Tigers.
I’m just glad Sheensy ain’t still here - Sukkar might end up on the wing or at hooker…

Truth is, outside of something falling in our lap - I think we’re shot ducks… can’t see us staying in touch with the bottom of the 8 until we get them (at least one of them) back…

Stranger things have happened, but I feel for something good to fall in our lap - we’d have to let something good go. And after the years we’ve taken to get our good things, I don’t really wanna give one up.

Bite down on the mouth guard and pray for a few things to fall our way?
Surely the footy gods have their eye on us, we’re due!!

So some Forum members want Skelton in one week to go from maybe making 5 tackles a game to making 35 tackles a game at a 90+ % tackle efficiency as well as 15 to 20 hit ups
Glad Benji doesn't look to the Forum for advice
The disrespect of thinking backrowers can be manufactured so easily is annoying.
For everyone’s information…backrowers are the best players in the team. They can only be replaced like for like. We have a reserve grade for a reason. Use it.

Just go with the next men up from our reserves.

We're playing at home so if it were me I'd be looking for more in attack/possession instead of shifting players out of position. Jock's capable but if it were me I'd take a punt on starting Latu at 7 and then bringing Jock on.

I think its the kind of game where we'll need to land a few sucker punches if we want to get up. We'll need to try and play a bit of footy and get the ball to Bula.

I agree regarding the importance of your edge forwards. Have always been big on their role in winning, particularly in defense. NSW best years in origin have always been characterised by great second rowers.

Unfortunately we tried Mav Geyer out of Reggies v Penrith with disastrous results.

Occasionally you get players transition with great success. I’m thinking Wade Graham, Luke Lewis, Craig Fitzgibbon, Aubusson type guys.

For me, AD has a few attributes that cross-over, and times are pretty desperate.

Haven't you heard Tuck, it's 2026, you can wave a magic wand and yank a second rower out of your arse these days.

Big outside backs have made the transition but that's an experiment to be tried in reserve grade then if the player shows promise, a big off season is required.

Sukkar & Geyer until Roberts is fit to go.

Judging Geyer on the Panthers game isn't fair, much like Afoa looked much better in his second game.

Fortunately we still have decent middles to play. Win the game through the middle- don't shift your better forwards to positions they are less at.

As the game goes on, the likes of Seyfarth & Fainu can fill backrow positions in the rotation. Or Murray can. Or even Latu.

That effort of Geyer on Lindsay Smith, and several others, were that bad. Cards are marked for me.

Think Adam has a better chance ending up at lock down the track, but not yet.
