Bad Boys rewarded for Bad Behaviour

Players these days, particularly those with talent, are not feeling the repercussions for their actions. Contracts are not worth the paper they are signed on and punishments for poor off-field behaviour no longer fit the crime. That is, if you have the on-field talent.

Dugan following in Carney's footsteps. Even Barba appears to have escaped severe punishment.

Let me know your thoughts.

Plain and simply money and winning games goes ahead of anything else. Reagrdless of the spin we hear from the game and the people running it about player welfare, it all comes down to money

All the garbage that came from the media darling Greenberg about Barba was just that, garbage. He tells us of a several indistrections that saw them consider him being sacked. Deep rooted issues that go back as fard as his childhood. The Dogs are 2-1 and are struggling to put points on the board and face one of the top 3 teams, boom back comes Barba into the team.

Nothing has been learnt fromt he Carney issue, the Raiders do the right thing and what happens? Dugan gets what he wanted all along and gets to pick his new employer as they all fall over themselves for his signature and what i'm sure will be an ever bigger pay day.

Yeah that's the stupid thing. Nothing has been learnt from the original bad boy Todd Carney. Whilst I believe Carney has improved significantly, I don't believe anything the nrl or any of his clubs have done has been the game changer. I think Carney just woke up one morning and finally figured it out and wised up. It comes with age and experience. Dugan will go down the same path and Barba likewise.

As for the Bulldogs and their position on Barba. To be fair, they said it could take up to 6 months but did stress it could be 1 month, 2, 3, 4…what ever time was necessary. I won't judge them on Ben's early return however I do feel he should spend a month or so slugging it out in the NSW Cup just to remind him our how lucky he is to be a first grade superstar. For him to spend 2 weeks in a facility and a further week on the training paddock before being named good to go all again just feels like the issue was rather hastily swept under the rug.

Too true mate. Some people that follow the NRL talk about Greenberg as though he is some sort of shining knight saint that can do no wrong, to me he is just another puppet who is an expert at throwing out comments that people want to hear. Oh how a poor win/loss record can change a clubs stance in an instant!
Greenberg is smart enough and cunning enough to know that the Bulldogs lack of on-field success will eventually lead to disgruntled fans venting their anger at management and calling for them to be replaced, jeopardizing his job. Ol' Toddy G will certainly look out for his own interests ahead of supposed player welfare when push comes to shove.

I think a spin-king like Greenberg is exactly what the Bulldogs needed when he came in. Their reputation was atrocious. I actually admire what he has accomplished at that club, although I don't necessarily admire his methods or motives.

Completely agree that is much easier to play happy family when the side is going well.

Barba committed some pretty serious infringements and was heading for a downward spiral. Greenberg makes him out to be a victim (which he is to a degree). Barba escapes further sanctions and continues to play after only 3 weeks on the sideline. Greenberg has successfully achieved the clubs goals while giving the appearance that it is all for Ben. The guy is a genius!

I'm not saying that he didn't have Ben's interests at heart, but it does appear that the Bulldogs have escaped this whole thing rather unscathed.
