Balmain Matts finally put in a decent performance in attack today against the Central Coast. 26 points in the first 15 minutes got the Tigers off to a flyer, It was great to see some slick ball movement and the use of our talented outside backs on the back of some great offloads by our forwards. Defence was great but disappointingly from the 15 minute mark to about the 35th minute the Tigers bombed try after try, a few changes were made which probably didn't help the situation but we do need to go on with the job once the platform has been set.
It was great to see some definate signs of improvement, we just need to get a bit deeper to give our ball distributors time and room to move.
Look out SWAS.

The Central coast Centurions were simlpy crap .After big losses to Penrith and Parra the Centurions looked shell shocked. The whole team were tackle shy. The number 7 and 13 were outstanding for the Tigers.

hey there flash whats doing. Usually enjoy reading controversy of your Harold Matts team but no replies today. Must be happy the boys had a big win and maybe their boys had a run today. Pesonally I didn't get to see the game yesterday but try to this week so I can see for myself

Well your report is pretty much spot on flash. The period you spoke of was probably due to some changes but the side got back on track after a while and put the Coast to the sword. Should have won by more, only the heat and some average execution hurt the Tigers.

A couple of forwards found their way into the backs at in-opportune times which didn't help. The defence from Central Coast was terrible on the day. Tigers are going along pretty well I think, so its all looking good so far with plenty of improvement left yet.

I agree with The Phantom that the 7, 13 and 15 were very, very good for the Tigers.

Some people should make the effort to get along to the games and support the tigers. Unfortunatley some boys haven't got much time yet but i'm sure that they will soon. "GO THE TIGERS"

For everyones info I have been advised that it was about 44 Degrees out on Leichhardt oval as the boys played on Saturday, so dropping off in attack was understandable considering the amount of sweat on the ball. The fact that there was no drinks break in the first half is hard to take considering the playing field temperature, up in the stand there wasn't a breath of wind to help cool things down.
Easy for some officials to say no to a drinks break when they aren't the ones out there sweating their backsides off, we had 3-4 boys go down with cramps late in the game as the result of dehydration.
Yes "Toothless Tiger" the 15 did play well even though the Phantom left him out, but I thought they all played well. We are building well in preperation for the Panthers in 3 weeks which is the game we really need to focus on.

I agree there was some improvements but the Central Coast where just terrible in defense. They seemed to employ a very ordinary compressed defensive structure that the tigers got around easily. I have to admit I am still to be convinced that this side has the game plan to get into the semi's. I still think they play way to lateral and it was only the terrible defense that made them look good. I just don't see them having the right game plan to challenge the big boys of Parra, Penrith or Souths. With the backs this team has can you imagine how good they would go if the forwards were bending the defensive line and getting quick play the balls. I am not being critical of the forwards either. They are a good forward pack but the game plan seems to be mostly ignoring the forwards in attack or playing at the edges when they do get it. I am of the opinion that will spell big trouble against the top sides. I guess we will have to wait and see…
That said it was a good victory and pleasing to see the tigers finish them off in the last 15 minutes, considering the heat. They did bomb a gutful of tries but considering how easy it was for them to break the line I guess they mentally easied off a bit. The most pleasing thing for me was the positional play of the tigers in attack, with the boys looking much more comfortable with what they were suppose to be doing, and the defense was excellent. I don't recall to many line breaks from the coast and I know we certainly were physically stronger. I don't agree with the game plan but the tigers did execute it well this week. Next week should be a chance for some of the bench players to get a bit of time and that will be a good thing for the squad.
