Thanks for the updates guys….for anyone , like me, who couldn't make the game , Fox Sports 2 will be showing it on Wednesday @ 5pm. Nichols & Lazo sounded like their combination Is getting better & better.A very good win without Meaney , Gower & Farlow not being there

Really positive win and a real credit to the structures put in place by Paul Fletcher. For a team missing three of their most consistent performers and the Jets playing Ben Jones and bringing back Lopini Paea from injury are actually a very good side.

I won't discuss the reff as he was not good at all. Newtowns grubby tactics were obvious from the start and sometimes they got under the skin. Real dog shots that went unpenalised like the prop who dropped the knee on Carr when exposed on the ground. Karma bit hard though as he suffered what appeared to be an ACL tear.

Happy to get back to the top of the table.

Nicholls & Cowan Vunakece were the best for mine but everybody really deserves praise for today. A solid team effort and I look forward to the replay.

Next game will be Monday night football against Wentworthville. Toyota Cup will be played on the Sunday at Ringrose Park.

Oh and the old turd who was supposed to be in charge of the medical equipment a big up yours. One of our guys was knocked out cold and he strolled off to get the stretcher. In the near 5 minutes it took him to get to the stretcher and get it half way back our trainer and doctor had managed to get him mobile enough to assist from the field. Typical of the pathetic joke that is the Newtown Jets

Thankfully Balmain didn't allow Newtown to score too much which meant I didn't have to listen to that awful Newtown song too often. Also, the Newtown bike guy only did one lap. There was a big crowd - 8972 surprise surprise.

No mate. Moved to the game before Parras main game on Monday Night Football.

Apparantly an issue with Under 20's kids from Townsville missing alot of work and education commitments because of the amount of interstate Monday Nighters.

Hi Guys, just went to setup IQ to record on Wednesday and it's saying 3pm - 4pm for NSW State Cup, after that Fox 2 is showing SOO matches.

So this isn't effecting the Tigers/Cowboys Toyota Cup game in a couple of weeks at Leichhardt is it? It still on Monday night prior to NRL?

Sounds like Nicholls just keeps getting the job done. I wonder why Sheens doesnt see him as an option?

Buggered if I know mate, it's bizarre because he has really worked hard on his game this year and is working well with Lazarus in directing the side around. Scored a nice solo try in the second half, kicked well and defensively he's good. Sheens could do far worse than give Darren a go out there.

How many 5/8th do we need…...

So Nicholls is now above Lazarus as a halfback?

I'd have him ahead of Lazarus at the moment due to his stronger defence.

I agree Willow, he is playing with a lot of confidence, and at this present moment, playing better than Lazo, but the tough as nails Lazo, is regaining his early comp form quickly….and Geo, Nichols is fast becoming a great ulitity player, having played halfback for the20s, and 5/8 & hooker for Balmain this year....as Willow & others have noted, Darren s gets the job done, and hence IMO should have been given a go against the Broncos last week at 7 and kept Lawo in the centres with Lote outside him.

The BRET halves switch hit between first and second receiver throughout the match and it makes them a far more potent combination. No egoes involved between them either. Darren or Blake are willing to play second fiddle if the other is having a better strike rate in a game.

Also of note is the continued improvement of Lazarus in defence. They ran big guys including Paea at him all day when given the opportunity and he made good first contact and was only brushed twice from my recollection. Even than he made the second effort and latched onto the oppositions legs.

Really happy with the growth of the halves and guys like Curren, Ryan etc this year. Hopefully next week sees the return of Al Schirnack and puts us close to full strength

Ive said this before, but i just have a gut feeling that if Nicholls gets a shot in the top side he wont look back. Its a big step up, so maybe im way off, but he just seems like the type that will step up. Some players are like that, i remember watching Ben Galea in the lower grades and didnt think much of him, and i was surprised when he got picked in first grade, but he played better in the top grade then he did in the lowers. Some guys just excell when given a chance and i think Nicholls could be one of them

Alad…I haven't seen him play for a while....don't get me wrong....I'm a huge Darren Nicholls fan....I pumped for him when Lazzo was slaughtered and Lui was injured the second time...He fed Lui in the 20's last year and was IMO more responsible for the surge into the Grand Final.....Great to hear that he has continued to work on his kicking game....

I doubt Sheens would give him a shot but I agree with you ....if Lui is out ...Nicholls would be My choice against the Titans....

He CAN kick pass run and tackle......Hope Sheensy was at Henson to see with his OWN eyes...

I Didnt see sheens there.

I rate nichols and he was real good yesterday,But I still think lazo is the better halfback prospect.

Yeah no sign of Sheens unfortunately, although Big Sirro was there along with former Tiger Tyran Smith watching on.

With Ellis and Flanagan likely to miss Friday nights game does Willie Mataka's form warrant a call-up, i havnt seen Balmain play for weeks?
