A Wests Tigers branded club will do a lot to consolidate the message that we are the Wests Tigers now.

I hope they use the Wests Tigers logo and not the tiger that Wests Ashfield use.

I think the plan would be to have Wests Tigers League Club: Rozelle, And WTLC Ashfield.

I doubt that Ashfield will change to Wests Tigers branding, I 100% expect them to stay as West Ashfield using the Magpis

Why wouldn't they want to take advantage of a stronger brand and synergise certain expenses...? Most of the people that go there wouldn't know who the Magpies are...

Wests Ashfield support a lot of local sport and community organisations. They are know in the community as the Magpies. There is no way they will change.

To Darcy Byrne and the people of the "So called Rozelle village."

What you are getting here is what you sowed - you screwed the Balmain Leagues Club dry until they went out of business. You kept knocking back the plans submitted for years and now you are going to get a "Car mine."

It could have been so much better for all of us, a little tweeking here and there, serious discussion on a 50/50 plan for all concerned - all the developers got was No! No! No!

I for one am very glad that Karma if it happens is still alive and well, a great monstosity of a hole, smoke stacks and a horrid ugly intersection at Victoria Rd / Darling St.

Hope the people of Rozelle Village enjoy their new environment. Thanks Darcy, thanks Benny.

And if they care to take a drive from their 'village' have a look at the monstrosity that is Sharks' Woolooware Shores.

Barnstaple rd. It closed as soon as administrators came in.
The closer you look the more you realise how inept the Balmain administration has been. It’s not much of a stretch to see how this culture percolates throughout the entire organisation.

Balmain Leagues Club Redevelopment Wins Approval

The former Balmain Leagues club site in Rozelle will get a new lease on life after being granted approval for a 28,000sq m mixed-use development from the Sydney Eastern City Planning Panel.

Heworth Holdings Group is behind the $135 million re-development, located on the corner of Victoria Road and Darling Street, which has been abandoned since 2010 and long been known as the dilapidated Rozelle development site in Sydney’s inner-west.

Backed by Malaysian giant Mulpha, Heworth initially lodged plans for the project’s development—comprising three towers—in 2018, after securing the site for $75 million.

The approval includes 167 apartments, commercial space, a new public town square, a community arts studio, retail and the new Tigers Leagues Club to be built on the lower levels of the complex.

The green light will officially see the Tigers return to their Rozelle home.

Heworth’s head of property Christopher Walsh says the Scott Carver designed project has an end value of $400 million when all is said and done.

Putting delays on the project’s process, the NSW government had previously said it would compulsorily acquire the site for the construction of the Western Harbour Tunnel.

The development approval follows the impending amalgamation of Western Suburbs Leagues Club (Wests Ashfield) and Balmain Leagues Club, which went into voluntary administration in 2018.

“It’s the first step in bringing the Balmain Club back to its home at Rozelle and is a truly historical moment in ensuring the continuation of grassroots rugby league in the area,” Wests Ashfield chief executive Simon Cook said.

“Our amalgamation and the subsequent development approval means we can secure the financial viability of Balmain Tigers and ensure the survival of the foundation club at both NSWRL and NRL levels.”

Great to see we will be back at Rozelle in some form
Rozelle and Ashfield and a Centre of Excellence at Concord
Plus we have the benefit of a junior nursey at campbletown
we are looking good

Geez I hope this gets constructed. Plans look good, but really anything would be an improvement on the dump that's there now.

Yep. There's a reason they no longer have power on the board. The changes since Wests took over, at least commercially, have been noticeable.

they can dress the club up as Wests Tigers but it will always be in Tiger Town .
Like Wests Campbletown is a magpie feel a out it.
This will be great with three genuine clubs
