Balmain Tigers to become extinct

Pretty rare to see Magpies jerseys in the crowd on game day. Usually plenty of Balmain jerseys (mostly the '80s style ones) coupled with the more recent (join venture) ones.

I have had an epiphany and I will be called all names on this forum and possibly censored (this is the way of Australia in 2021) but here it goes:

This board (or people in power) want fans to be so fed up with the Tigers that there will come a time there is no resistance to when the pro-Magpie board decides to push to change the name to the “Wests Magpies” to officially kill the “Balmain Tigers” or any affiliation with the “Tigers” just like Manly Warringah Sea Eagles made North Sydney Bears a memory with the Northern Eagles situation.

Bottom line is that the "Tigers" name is more marketable and has a real dollar value.

You can stop worrying … like all Clubs Wests Tigers is an NRL franchise .. it’s in there charter .. would never get approval from the NRL to change the name..

Plus Wests Ashfield love the Tiger it has been incorporated into the Leagues Club as most of the clientele love the Tiger also…very lucky..

Plus Ashfield is right in the middle of inner west Tiger country fan base. Can’t happen, won’t happen.

Probably about as many Magpies fans as Jets fans nowadays. Would be bad for business.

I was going to do another sarcastic comment but just in case your concern is actually serious, as others have mentioned ARL and NRL own the brand. As for Balmain Tigers becoming extinct, as far as I am aware, they are the ones who haven't managed their finances well. It has nothing to do with Wests or even the Wests Tigers.
