Ban mad Monday

Hows your year been??? Please let me know as I'll call Santa Claus and tell him whether to come or not… :unamused:

Mad Monday has its benefits and negatives... Regardless of the outcome of the season, the boys have trained for nearly 10 Months and some good time as a unit to reflect over a few beers may have a great outcome for the squad?!

Making discounts from their quarterly Salary would be a far better may to send a message that poor performance should not be tolerated!

Don't know about always having benefits Watto

A few people may disagree

That bloke who was Wests and Norths halfback and that Souths player who decided to pop him for instance

That Wests Tigers halfback who thought the game went to Golden Point when he got home in 2010 and 2011
\
\
That West Tigers halfbacks G/F or Fiance who for two years running was terrorized

How many people here played footy, or any sport where they had a terrible season, and had someone propose cancelling either the presentation or some sort of mad Monday/end of season trip as "punishment"?

As fans we have a stake in the game, we feel the highs and lows…but the players invest their prime years into it, sometimes coming out with lifelong injuries/niggles as a result.

They earned a Mad Monday, regardless of how we as fans felt they played.

I'm dirty as hell about how we ended up this year, but I guarantee I don't feel anywhere near as bad as any of our players though.

They can have it Lat After the GF , after they have been terrorized on the training track for the next 4 weeks

My point is if they want to be premiers , this is how long their season will go and it only gets harder not easier

Happy on this one you are 1000% correct.

Go for it.

I said in my first post that holding the boys back until the GF is done is a completely separate issue to actually banning Mad Monday, which is what this thread is about.

Are you serious??!

When the players were shaking hands I saw benji and ayshford chatting and LAUGHING with roosters players…

Why would they care, they still paid the same amount of they lose by 50 or win by 50 and they all know that they will be there next week regardless of how they perform.

I work in sales, my company really looks after the employees with work functions and other benefits however if we greatly underperformed all year i can promise you this would change very quickly.

Playing rugby league is their job, the only way to punish them is to do things like this.

I'm sure your job in sales is tough, but comparing it to professional sportsman is a long bow to draw.

I disagree the "only way to punish them" is to take away something the club probably doesn't even have the right to take away.

Apart from making sure the players have a safe environment to drink, I doubt the club has much say in what goes on. I'd bet its largely a player organised operation, much like the end of season trip.

If your sales job cancelled a work function and you still decided to get a few people together for a drink, thats your prerogative.

Ban mad monday? I dont think any team in the NRL should be denied an end of year event to let their hair down. Seriously NRL players put themselves through hell every week, it a very demanding sport, just because your team doesnt make the finals or wins the GF doesnt mean that they are denied an end of year celebration. I'm surprised no one has mentioned something that should be banned at any tigers mad monday celebrations after recent mad monday events, and that is the Bacardi Breezer. That is what should be banned from any mad monday celebrations, because of this ridiculous female orientated lolly water we have been without one of our KEY PLAYERS this season and definitely why we have gone backwards from round 1 compared to last year. Title of the thread should be rewritten to BAN BACARDI BREEZERS!

Ahh, yes but isn't mad monday about being with your mates and having a good time and Mates looking after each other ???

Should never have been allowed to leave the celebrations in the state he was in, but I guess all the other players must have been blind as well.

Just hope nothing happens this year

Why someone from the club didn't drag him back to their place and let him sleep it off I will never know after what happened the previous season

How many of us on here have had a massive night out and gone home without feeling the need to go the knuckle on our missus? The bloke is obviously a moron and the club is better off without him (although we probably should of found a replacement half at least).

Mad Monday has no benefits for this group of players ..they actually dress up i think so maybe if they all wore pink skirts that would be an indication of how they performed this season .On a serious note if Sheens had any bottle left they would be still training until grand final day . So with that the boys will be wearing they pink dressed on Monday.

Maybe if the players are going to dress up and pretend maybe they should don the playing strip and PRETEND to be passionate, committed footballers- at least that would be the first time for the year

Even if we fluke a finals spot, do you think any player will be happy about the way 2012 ended up?

You still cannot say how they will feel even if you knew how the season finishes, (which you dont) let alone know without the season being over….you know how you feel, thats all.

I cant find the other thread, there was another on mad moday somewhere.

However….

Given the events of the past two years, I hope the club is on the front foot this year and putting whatever needs to be put into place to prevent a repeat of whats happened in the past, I really dont want to be reading about anything tomorrow or wed.

I know clubs cannot hold players hands 24/7.....theyre adults and need to act as such, and be responsible for themselves.....but if theyre ''celebrating'' in a team environment, the club is responsible...what happens when they go home becomes personal responsibility
