To all the forum mods....keep up the good work. Josh will be back and probably feeling embarrassed that his twitter feed was found and commented upon. If/when I get a 'rest' I'll probably have a whinge too, but just to my mates.

Yes I banned him, and it is only for 7 days. It's not the end of the world although that's clearly what he's trying to make it out to be by seeking public attention.

He's thrown his toys out of the cot after he also created two new accounts to try and get around the ban. It's really not that difficult not to swear, and if people want to neg rep the moderators for doing their job and holding standards here, well then this isn't really the place for you, it's as simple as that.

That's insane. The swearing / creating 2 accounts -ban makes sense and keeps this place humming nicely.

Banning a bloke cause he gave you negative internet points is crazy.

Rules are rules. They're non negotiable. If you don't like them or find them hard to follow, that's too bad.

There are plenty of other forums to go join...

Tissues will be supplied upon your exit

I like Josh, but the action of disrespecting the moderators is never going to end well. There are rules in place about swearing which is good, I swear on occasion IRL sure, but this is a public forum and no-one should be subjected to personal attacks. Sure you can swear without attacking someone, but it's hard to know where to draw the line, and just drawing the line so that all swearing is out is a fair solution. Keeping it simple.

Josh was asked to not do the disguised swearing, as we all know that it is swearing, and instead of accepting that he fought it, disrespecting the person just trying to uphold the rule. Come on Josh, you don't have to agree with things (it is a forum after all) but please don't be disrespectful mate. Forums are built on being respectful.

And Josh, please don't continue being disrespectful about all of us on other forms of social media, what are you doing there mate? If you want to cut ties with the forum, it's a good way to go about it. But if you want to pull your head in a bit, admit you went a bit far, stop badmouthing us to everyone else please. How is this forum going to grow and have new ideas come in if you sabotage it?

Unfortunately disguised swearing is creeping back in..We are sorry we hold this forum to a higher standard than others..deleting posts and banning users isn't something we want to do

It really isn't that difficult

I totally understand trying to maintain a high quality and sense of decorum, particularly if you are trying to appeal to the family crowd (or the club itself) but in all honesty acronyms that are "disguised swearing" are nearly superfluous to the point of not even carrying their original meanings, much like lol is. In 2020 anyone who has access to a computer is exposed to profanity. I have seen swear words that are banned on here printed in national newspapers these days.

I don't think terms like the one this guy used are considered offensive to anyone that uses the internet. Twitter, Facebook, Whatsapp, Reddit, Snapchat, all vastly widely used sites that have far lower standards when it comes to language standards. It doesn't negatively affect their reputation amongst families, corporates or the like to any significant detriment. They are among the most popular sites in the world

Notwithstanding it might be less work for you and your mod team if you actually let the acronyms go and worry about real offensive language and antisocial behaviour.

Lastly, I have been on this forum since the first month it existed (I am MacDougall) and you have had these rules in place that entire time yet throughout it's history I have seen and been part of that are far more negative, toxic, tilting and detrimental to the health of the forum than an occasional acronym hidden profanity.

At the end of the day myself, and I am sure a lot of others end up just accepting the standards you enforce because it's a privately run site and it's your prerogative to ban or reprimand people for whatever standards you like but that's about it. I'm sure some people do enjoy it, but I bet dollars to donuts it's actually frustrating for most people having to self moderate, particularly given the emotion that comes with supporting this team.

Also given the site's acronym is also an extremely common "disguised swear" I actually thought it was named that way on purpose tongue in cheek all along.

Anyway as I said, it's a privately owned forum and I am nobody so by all means enforce whatever standards you like. I am just sharing my user experience as a longtime user.

Having been a mod here previously I fully support Willow and the other mods on this.

The amount of personal time they give to make this place work & as good as it is, isn’t small. If the mods didn’t do what they do you wouldn’t have a westtigersforum - It’s why I stopped, priorities were family & work.

People think that mods want respect because they have a right, it’s about respecting the mods who are giving their spare time to keep the forum in place.

It’s not hard to have a conversation rather than carry on like a spoilt brat.

apparently wimpy from twitter thinks we are all knobs lol

oh well I got warned for swearing because we are losing a game and I did apologise - there's so many times I wanted to swear because of the calls the refs make or the dumb things that our players do but I have learnt from that experience and I just stay quiet now or comment on it without swearing or disguised swearing

I like Josh and he makes lots of good points hopefully he comes back and learn from this experience

and I want to thank the mods for doing their job, appreciated the time you guys spend in policing this forum

Just a trio of old thought police sharing each other’s home brew . Definition of Forum : place where matters of high and low import are discussed. I ain’t never used no cuss words cletus but i should be able to neg people whoever they are. it’s what them diggers fought for.

I had a post deleted last week for swearing- no problem at all. This level of scrutiny makes this place enjoyable.

Silver lining: with Josh banned for a week I might get to catch up cause they’ll only be half the posts to read 😜

What's your previous username?

Some here are missing the point.

Its about making this place fun, safe and free of litigation.

Its Easy - Feel free to agree or not, be articulate or not, just dont swear, dont go overboard and dont abuse someone via keyboard.

I'm totally supportive of the rules, and the enforcement of them. Just because the rest of society (and social media society) is on a downward trend in regards to bad language and lack of respect, doesn't mean the forum has to continue the slide!

Like others have said, it's not difficult to avoid swearing or disguised swearing... even when the team is bad and we're all incredibly frustrated. Hey, try the other way of thinking that it's a good exercise in self discipline!

Keep up the hard work mod's, thanks for your efforts.

I had one deleted the other day for using those 2 letters. It happens. What a snowflake.

Me too! Thought it was odd because I’d been able to use them heaps of times before without the posts being deleted. I remarked that I thought we were being policed like a kindergarten now, moreso than before. I just find it a bit over the top sometimes, we aren’t children.
