Battle of the Forwards

Missed the game (work does get in the way)! There was much made pre game about the forwards clash after a bit of niggle in the press and on Twitter. How was it? Did one of the packs out perform the other? And did the Lussick/Taupau clash come to fruition. Looking forward to hearing about it. Thanks to all posters in anticipation.

What happened to Gavet? Was at the game, did he suffer a hammy, does anyone know?

Looked like a Hammy. I notice he had lost some energy in tackles and was struggling to get back in the line and then he was grabbing the Hammy.

Taupau and akoula were absolutely massive. Both made more than 100m and 5 tackles busts each. Manu Mau and Mannah were the standouts for eels

At the game it felt like both teams played to their strengths - we won the forward battle (still can't believe I'm writing this as our strength!) and their backs, Hayne in particular, created a lot of their chances. That we did this without Gavet, Fulton, Robbie or Sue says so much about our depth. Welcome to first grade Sitaleki Akuola - you've proved you belong.

The overplay by the Eels in attack reminded me of the Benji days….ala our two intercept tries
