Beau & Heighnos Contracts

Usually im the first to sink the boot into the clubs management or sheens. However in this instance I really don’t see that they have done a lot of wrong. Obviously Im not in the loop with the club but from all the articles, interviews etc about these two it seems that it has been purely their decision to go.

Beau:

· Agreed to a three year extension
· Said the club hadnt given him the formal contract so HIS MANAGER sounded out other clubs
· He had a meeting with the sharks coach and was made to feel like a priority
· The club got him the AGREED contract on Monday
· On Tuesday he agreed to terms with the sharks and signed with them

99% of contracts are signed in the off season, its how its done. All agreements and letters of intent etc are done during the season proper then the legalities sorted out when the playing commitments for the year are over. This is why Moltzen didn’t go to the dragons, why Inglis didn’t go to Brisbane etc despite contracts being ‘agreed to’ months earlier. To me this says Beau got a better deal, or simply had a cry about something he didn’t like, probably Heighno leaving, or possibly Sheens had told him Lote and Korobiete were the first choice wingers next year and Beau would have to fight for his spot, we don’t know. But at the end of the day Beau was presented with the three year contract that was agreed, and HE chose NOT to sign it.

Heighno:

· Has one year to go on his contract with the club
· Wanted an extension but was told by Sheens that it would be unlikely to be granted and if he wants to play elsewhere next year he can
· Gets a three year deal with the sharks and leaves

Heighno was 100% welcome to stay here next year however he wanted the security of a long term deal as he is 30 now and its likely to be his last decent contract. The club allowed him to do this, they have done the right thing by him. HE WAS NOT SACKED, MOVED ON ETC.

You can say the club handled this unprofessionally but to me they have done what we as fans have been wanting, moving the ‘boys club’ culture on, the carry on that has ensued by the palyers has shown exactly why this has needed to happen. Look at when Braith, the Roosters CAPTAIN was told he had to prove his worth and might not get a contract for next year. He looked at his options and signed with the tigers, no media carry on, no ‘who is me’ interviews. He is a professional rugby league player, accepted his fate and got on with it.

I immensely thank Chris and Beau for their contributions to the Wests Tigers over the years, they always gave 100% and I don’t doubt that they love the club, however I think that it has worked out best for everyong that they have moved on and don’t think the club has done ANYTHING wrong at all by doing so.

We obviously don't know that for sure Bon however on the footy show he said that the club have him the contract, so I'd imagine it was

Yep, the club did good i think. Fact is Beau is a low priority signing and Heighno was unlikely to get a starting position in the coming years. But I guess the club didn't realise how the playing group would act like unprofessional 10 year olds when their fwends left…

Bulldogs, Storm, Manly have all had turnovers of playing staff and have remained very competitive. Outside of 1-2 players or current group are not ruthless or professional and it shows.

- Last year they were told they can look around for a new club.
- Rumours they were both off to Penrith
- Fell though, no one was interested, I guess this is where they made "the agreement" Beau Ryan mentioned on the footy show last night (assume it was, "IF YOU GO - I GO"

Chris Heinington is DONE - he offers NOTHING in attack, no go forward at all.
He had a few decent games towards the end of the season but it was all already over.
Many people see it and have stated, he is useless and should go to ESL and make some bread before his time is really over.

Beau Ryan - strong winger, especially this year.
Always leaves it on the field and does his best.
Been a bit average in the past, stand out year 2012 but we have better options waiting in the midst.
Would've been nice to keep him, cos he is a massive draw - but as said in other threads, what a SOOK.

It's going to be great to see some pace in the backs from next year onwards,
Hopefully the team can focus on BEING a SUCCESSFUL TEAM which is shown on how many wins they incur not how they're all such good mates.

A winning team is a happy team.

1\. Tedesco
2\. Nofo
3\. Simona
4\. Lawrene
5\. Koroi

Lets do this

the reason i ask is because at around 4.23min he mentioned the contract offered at the start of the week and that they couldn't guarantee that they wouldn't do this to him again next year.

that implies a 1 year contract.
not 3 years.

I took it as him saying that they might just ask him look elsewhere even with 2 years to go on his contract, like was rumored last year.

If it was a one year contact then I'm sure he would have said 'a revised/new contract' was presented to him

I guess neither of us know for sure

fair enough, not sure why it would be a concern when you still get paid.
i guess there have been no other reports about only a 1 year deal.

Something about this hasn't added up for me the whole time

The players are all mates ??

So you'd think they would be discussing contracts with each other (Not dollars maybe , but where they were with negoatiations etc ??)

So why didn't Beau and Rhino discuss BEFOREHAND with the individual players / playing group the fact they might be signing with another club or having negotiations or having problems with getting a contract ??

So I for the sake of it are going to assume they did mention what was going on ??

So my final question would be , why didn't the playing group raise a stink before Beau and Rhino signed to leave and leave it until afterwards ??

I hope next year this what I see, I think it is worth losing beau, yes he has been a great club man but they have to move on some day

True that!!!
and
Who has an emergency meeting about it in a pub

The more I think about it, the more I am happy that it has happened.

Time to get serious lads

I am over the Tigers players acting like Prima-donas and trying to dictate to the club!!.
\
\
Ryan on the Footy show a month back almost demanded the Tigers resign Lote…No other players from other clubs act this way through the media. It's clear this club needs a cultural shake-up!..

As for Heihnington, his last 2 years have been very ordinary, it's time he moved on and allowed players like BMM to take their spot in the run on team. I am not at all sorry he's gone....he will always be remembered as a great clubman and I appreciate how well he has served the WT in the past....but we are now talking about the present and the future and I'm sorry CWH if I were in charge I would not be offering you a 3 year contract you seek.

As for Beau a great 2012 no doubt, but look at his age, and what is coming through...two gun wingers ready to burst onto FG over 2013 and 2014...Offer Beau a contract till 2015 and Nofo and Koro will not wait, nor should we...they are speed demon's and deserve to play FG in 2013/4...So on that basis alone I would not offer Beau a 3 year deal at WT either.

The way Benji carried on last night annoyed me. He should focus on being a player and play to his elite standard, something he failed to do in 2012...I am all for a player shake up and those targeted are the right players to let go....I only wish I'd hear Moltzen mentioned too...

As for Sheens...the team need to hear a new voice...and a young gun who is steeled, like Matt Parish is the way to go...Sheens has been around too long...I'd be happy for him to stay as Coaching director in 2013 as long as the Head Coach has full say in team selections.

Good post mate and the anlysis sounds about right. I personally don't think we have lost much by these two players leaving, would have been nice to have given them both a fitting farewell at LO with Gareth, but such is life.

So my final question would be , why didn't the playing group raise a stink before Beau and Rhino signed to leave and leave it until afterwards ??

Why. Cause they all also playing smoke & mirrors and after what I saw this year all this talk about mateship and putting in for each other is also BS.
1\. Sheens did a press announcement and said there were going to be changes and that some people would be upset so players were forewarned.
2\. Based on CWH form (and age) this year the club would have been crazy to give him a new 3 year deal but when they offer him a chance to secure his future elsewhere for 3 years they get slammed.
3\. Whilst BR has had a good year I get the feeling he just got nervous that his name might be read out and jumped when in actual fact he was probably never going to be pushed. All the rumours about LT being resigned probably added to it and he made a comment in the interview that he might come back in 5 years and still be able to play with LT. For me just shows how immature he is and caught up in his TV persona.
4\. Whilst BM has no doubt had a hand in most of the points we scored over the past 2 years . His defence and decision making have been shocking and I am sure if you add then together the result would be he lost us more than he won. His attitude (on TV & media) now seems to be that he is one of the elite and should't come under the microscope even though quite a few times he came out with the 'motherhood statement' of my bad and I will fix it. Problem was he never fixed it.

Yep I raised a similar question in another thread. You'd think the time to organise meetings and a player revolt was BEFORE you signed with someone else. For all their talk about being shattered etc, they were both pretty damn quick to sign with other clubs. I don't deny that they were entitled to do so and it will probably work out best for both of them but you'd think if the club and your mates meant THAT much to you, you might give it longer than a week to try and work things through with the club.

Yes, yes, and yes. I doubt without Beau's Footy Show spot his contract kerfuffles would have raised so much attention on 9\. They have made their decisions, now move on.
